Denny Hamlin, the Joe Gibbs Racing veteran once again has taken the podium, but this time, the driver stirred up controversy when he racked up his 50th career win at Pocono Raceway. While his late drama garnered him the crowd’s hate as they rained boos from the stands, Hamlin embraced the antagonistic role when he gestured his 7th victory to the hostile fans.

Disappointed at his friend, snatching the win away from him, Kyle Larson expressed his displeasure post the race, calling out Hamlin and deeming the act “intentional.” Speaking to Floracing, the Hendrick Motorsports driver shared his honest thoughts about the incident, mentioning that this isn’t the first time the #11 Toyota has bumped him.

While the veteran is in a state of denial, blatantly ignoring the late contact with the #5 Chevy, the 2021 Cup Series champ also has a change of heart as he sent out a bold warning, revealing his intentions!

Stage 2 winner to 20th finisher: Kyle Larson blames Denny Hamlin

Going into the 2.5-mile Superspeedway race at Pocono, Kyle Larson was eyeing another win to solidify his playoff spot and to better his position in the standings. This was pretty apparent from his stage finishes. The HMS star finished second in Stage 1 behind Joey Logano, then went on to win Stage 2, looking to finish his day with a win.

But then Hamlin employed the near-identical move that he pulled on Ross Chastain there last year. Back then, the veteran could justify his actions, blaming the super-aggressive #1 driver but this time he was caught red-handed as the cameras clearly showed the #11 Toyota leading the #5 Chevy into the wall at Turn 1 in the closing laps. Basking in his 7th win at the track, most by any driver at Pocono, Hamlin rebuked the criticism, blaming Larson for running wide.

However, the HMS driver boldly called out Hamlin, saying, I mean it’s, that’s the tough part about racing and friendship and all of that but I don’t know, I mean you try hard to not let that stuff linger to where it affects off the track but obviously on the track, I’ve got reason to be upset. A handful of times now and most of the times, he’s gotten into me. It’s nothing intentional or anything.”

Larson then went on to expose Hamlin’s act, sharing his disappointment, he said,Yesterday is the first time I’ve been actually like I would say upset stuff that’s happened from him to me just because it was intentional, you know he went in there to you know to run as close as he could to my left side which he did, he hit me, I know he says, he didn’t but you know the replays clearly show that he makes contact with me and then my shoots up the racetrack so you know it was an intentional move.

However, he doubts if Hamlin necessarily wanted to hurt him by leading him into the wall but Larson also revealed his intention from here, saying,My full intention is to not give him an inch like he hasn’t been giving me you know a quarter of an inch so yeah and then kind of is what it is after that.”

With the NASCAR nation active with their debates and discussions, NBC commentator and veteran, Dale Earnhardt Jr also called out the move.

Sunday’s race wasn’t what any of us anticipated it to be. The Tricky Triangle showed the pack why it was given the moniker. While a number of drivers got tested, that exactly wasn’t the reason the race caught the attention of the community. Out for redemption, Hamlin had nothing short of a win in mind when he pulled off the same move he did last year.

But this time around, Hamlin felt the heat as the community doubled down hard, calling out his act. JR Motorsports co-owner, Dale Jr. also deemed the act, “dirty” and like Hamlin was taking advantage of their friendship. Speaking on his podcast, he said,

Denny gets wheel-to-wheel mid-corner. He makes a decision in that moment to throttle up and drive up the racetrack and door the hell out of the five. There’s contact, he’s coming up the track right? So I agree uh that it was a dirty move to door him, to throttle up and just door him.”
