Bubba Wallace and Chase Elliott‘s friendship goes a long way back. Back in 2014, when they were still in the Xfinity Series, Elliott and Wallace were apparently involved in a wreck. However, it wasn’t something during the races or on track. Instead, it was while they went out with a few friends on a skiing trip. Later on, during an interview, the future Hendrick Motorsports star jokingly put the blame for the incident on Wallace.
Later on in 2015, during an interview with the press, Elliott mentioned, “As you can imagine, a trip to Colorado with four or five guys, you know, it was fun, we did a lot of skiing, tried a lot of adventures on the mountain.” Wallace interjected and said, “Rental car.”

“I wrecked a rental car, kinda,” Elliott said, before deflecting blame to Wallace. “It was his fault. He caused it.” Now fast forward to today, Elliott and Wallace have been fierce competitors on the NASCAR field. Although with varying levels of success.

Looking at the present, Elliott has one Cup Series championship to his name. Moreover, he also continuously delivers spectacular results with his Hendrick Motorsports car out on track. Meanwhile, his friend Wallace has just recently started running up front with just two wins to his name to date.
One would argue that Wallace’s team, 23XI Racing, is still a new face in the sport. Furthermore, it cannot be compared to that of Hendrick Motorsports. They would be correct. Despite Wallace’s results so far, there is still a lot of promise in him. Moreover, 23XI Racing has also been improving significantly with time. There is a high chance with the 2023 season coming around, Wallace might be up in the front of the pack from the get-go. However, what will actually take place is still just speculation.

Another thing to note is that Elliott stays mostly calm and neutral with his responses when things go wrong. However, his friend Wallace is what one would say is a tad bit controversial at times. Take the example of when he shoved Kyle Larson around last year. The fans were upset. He got a lot of hate for it and then he went silent. However, putting their subtle differences aside, the two remain friends to this day and will probably be close in the future as well.
