The entire 2022 season has been wonderful for NASCAR driver Joey Logano. Since the season’s first race, there has been nothing but good news for the Team Penske driver. From winning the first race of the season to his daughter Emilia’s birth and then clinching the 2022 Cup Series trophy, Logano has achieved a lot this year.

However, it wasn’t easy at all. Especially Logano’s first race of the season. In one of the episodes of ‘Race for the Championship,’ Logano spoke about one of the toughest decisions he took before the Busch Light Clash. Since his race and the due date for his daughter’s birth were extremely close, he had to decide between racing and the birth of his daughter.

In the latest episode of Bobby Bones Show, the Team Penske driver revealed what exactly went through his mind. He said, “It was hard because it’s like the worst spot. It’s good and bad, right? Because you’re about to have a great moment with the birth of your third child, our first daughter. We’re racing in LA, we live in North Carolina. So, you’re all the way across the country.”

Furthermore, he shared that he had thought about every detail. He revealed that according to his calculations, it would have taken him at least eight hours to reach home from LA. Moreover, if he had to travel back, he may even miss the race which means there was no point in flying to LA in the first place.

He said, “You don’t know if you’re gonna get home in time. Like I’m gonna be all the way out and on the other side of the country. It’s gonna take me at least eight hours. By the time I get on the plane, fly all the way home, and drive to the hospital. I do the whole thing and I may miss that and then I am gonna miss the race too.”

However, Logano soon figured out a way to get out of this rut. And that too a smart one!

Joey Logano revealed how it all worked out

The hardest part for Joey Logano was to arrive at a decision. And to be able to achieve that, Logano did what any smart person would do. He said, “And so, I did what any smart husband would do and said, ‘Honey, you tell me what to do? (laughs) And so that’s what worked out.”

It was a tough spot for the 2022 Cup Series winner because as a driver; he has a responsibility towards his family as well as his team. Explaining how his wife helped him make the right choice, Logano said, “She said ‘You know what, when you leave to go out there, you’re there. You’re fully committed. Go racing.’ and she was ‘I’ll be fine.'”

And fortunately, Logano and his wife’s plan panned out perfectly. He shared, “Thank God everything went smoothly. And the way it all worked out was perfect. Exactly the way we planned it. Go out there, win the race, come home, and we’ll have the baby. And it happened.”
