The NASCAR Cup Series reached its peak on Sunday as the Ambetter Health 400 race turned out to be an epic showdown. As crazy as it sounds, Atlanta Motor Speedway witnessed a three-wide finish. Daniel Suarez dashed to the finishing line first by a fraction of an inch ahead of Ryan Blaney. They got pushed by Kyle Busch from the middle, leaving spectators bewildered about who the winner was. However, on the contrary, things did not go as planned for RFK Racing’s Brad Keselowski and Chris Buescher. While the RFK Racing team-owner finished P33, the latter still managed to finish P9. However, that is far from enough for the duo.

Having shown blistering performance last year with P7 and P8 in the Cup Series drivers’ standings and a perfect 1-2 finish at the Coke Zero Sugar 400 last year, Keselowski and Buescher were definitely looking to continue that same form. But, so far, things haven’t looked that great, and their Atlanta run was just another instance of how long the duo have yet to go. Taking about the same and dissecting the recent race, the #17 driver recently opened up about what went down.

RFK‘s #17 Chris Buescher opened up in an interview with Fronstretch’s Stephen Stumpf after the race and credited his team. The driver also mentioned how he wasn’t thrilled, but rather disheartened by the consequences. “Proud of this group, proud of the recovery, and the work that went in to get us back to a top 10. Yeah, we were up there in a good spot, and all the way up the fence and got cleaned out from where I’m standing. So, not really thrilled with that, really ruined our day,” said the driver.

Even if he secured a spot within top 10, the driver indicated that the road to the top is not easy and if not for the spins and crashes, he would have performed better.“Yeah, it was a bad day, it was ninth, uh but that is a bad day. Nothing went quite right you know, spun out there early, got crashed, kept working on it. We still weren’t 100% by any means but able to drive up there and make good speed,” he shared.

While Chris Buescher still had a performance to be proud of, his team boss Brad Keselowski had a forgetful day as an unfortunate and unprovoked clash took away his chances.

Brad Keselowski who was driving at third with great resilience, suddenly got his Ford Mustang spun late into the race. As a result, Kyle Larson and Corey LaJoie who were right behind him, were affected by the impact. Needless to mention, the pile up prevented them from getting into top 10, while putting Keselowski out of the race. Later, in a post-race interview while talking about the debacle, the Keselowski shared, “”That was what happened. I don’t know. My car just took off in the middle of the corner. I don’t know if it dropped or I lost the rear tire. Once I got up to the wall, I couldn’t get it off the wall..[..].. I don’t know what’s going on. It’s a bummer, but we’re running up front. That’s a good thing, just wasn’t able to finish it off.”
