Hold onto your helmets, NASCAR aficionados! The rumbling rumors are true! In a thrilling blend of British charm and American fervor, Hendrick Motorsports is officially partnering with a British auto racing giant for the 2024 edition of the Indy 500. But that’s not all – there’s a curious twist named the “Hendrick 1100” that’s got everyone buzzing. And Kurt Busch is here with some tips!

In a candid conversation on the Podcast episode of “Kenny Conversation,” 2004 NASCAR Cup champion Kurt Busch shed light on the nuances of racing, comparing the challenges faced in Indy cars at Indy with the thrill of super speeds at tracks like Daytona and Talladega.

When probed by Kenny Wallace about the differences in running wide open in an Indy car at Indy compared to NASCAR’s super speeds, such as Daytona or Telodega, Busch nostalgically reminisced about the challenges of yesteryears.

Kurt Busch stated, “Remember back in the day like at Daytona and especially Daytona, Telodega not so much but you had to have handling in your car and still be able to hold it wide open. Now it’s just super simple right? We’re just wide open. That was what the Indy car was like.”

“It was the old school NASCAR car where the tires would drop off and it took the big balls to hold it wide open and still keep your speed. And with the Indy car there’s the weight jacker. I can change cross weight. You can change cross weight in the car. You can change your fuel settings. There’s a sway bar adjuster and a sway bar adjuster.”

Wallace, drawing from Darrell Waltrip’s sentiments, remarked how racers sometimes prefer eliminating certain adjustments to avoid self-sabotage. Busch agreed, emphasizing his strategy during races to avoid mistakes, especially post-wreck. His primary objective was to ensure he did not incur penalties for speeding on pit road or colliding with tires or crew members.
