Kyle Larson will have a big moment in his career in 2024 when he drives his first IndyCar race at Indianapolis. Thanks to a new partnership between Arrow McLaren and Hendrick Motorsports, Larson will have the opportunity to participate in one of the biggest motorsports events of the year. But it will be nothing short of hectic. Larson is already a full-time Cup Series driver with HMS and will have to juggle that responsibility with IndyCar on that particular weekend next year. While the task may seem quite daunting, driving in an IndyCar race in Indianapolis is one of the biggest dreams of almost every single motorsport athlete in the world, and Larson is no different.

The HMS star is busy with the Cup Series this year so the gravity of what he is in might not have sunk into him yet. In a press conference after the Cup Series race at Indianapolis, the 31-year-old said that the nerves will start coming in during the off-season when he will have the time to think about how he will prepare for 2024. However, he also said that there will be a lot of excitement and fans can be certain that someone as professional as Larson will give it his full 100%.

“I’m obviously extremely excited but at the same time, I’m so busy that racing and trying to take care of my family that, you know, I haven’t, it hasn’t really set in yet that it’s truly a reality,” he said.

“When you have days like today and you unveil the car, you know all those little steps, it definitely, you know, makes it seem more real but I’m sure once things slow down in the off-season, I have a lot of time to sit around and think about the upcoming season and when it’s gonna hit,” the HMS driver added.

Despite already feeling some of the pressure ahead of his big race next year, Larson believes that once he gets in the car and does a few laps around the iconic circuit, the nerves will settle down and it will be like just another race that he will try to do his best in.
