This off-season is shaping up to be a busy one for Kyle Busch. In only a few days, the two-time Cup champion will make his USAC Midget racing debut at the November Classic in Bakersfield, CA. Then he’s got the 39th annual Chili Bowl to look forward to on his schedule. But before that, Rowdy will also race alongside his 9-year-old son Brexton at the Tulsa Shootout from Dec 31st to January 4th.
And it seems Kyle Busch is leaving no stone unturned to be in peak condition when the time comes to step into his No. 51 Kyle Busch Motorsports midget. The 39-year-old is even going running with his multi-talented wife Samantha to make sure he has all the right advantages. But it’s their teasing on the jogging trail that’s turning all the heads, giving us a brief glimpse of the couple’s precious friendship that often goes overlooked under the brighter lights of KFB’s legendary NASCAR career.

Kyle and Samantha Busch are going to ring in their 14th wedding anniversary on New Year’s Eve. But while most couples might toast to the occasion at home, Rowdy will be in Oklahoma, gearing up for greatness at the 40th annual Tulsa Shootout. Joining him is his son, Brexton. And you can bet the father-son duo’s determination to bring home some early-year glory will be the ultimate anniversary gift for the entire Busch family back in Lake Norman. After all, the 2024 NASCAR season has certainly taken a turn no one could’ve predicted for the winningest active driver in the Cup Series.
Regardless, Samantha has been the rock in Kyle Busch’s life in these difficult times. She cheered for the #8 Richard Childress Racing brigade on their darkest days. When the sun finally broke through, and things went right for her husband, she lit up social media with all the passion a NASCAR fan knows so well. And now, in the off-season, when she can finally spend some more time with Kyle, Samantha’s helping him get in shape for those forthcoming dirt racing escapades with a touch of ‘Rowdy’ comedy.
In a recent Instagram video shared from her account, Samantha Busch and Kyle went on a fun winter morning jog, throwing playful verbal jabs at each other with their signature light-hearted banter. She began,
“Suspect is a professional athlete, but this is the first time he’s ran in what, like, eight years?” Her husband replied in merry disbelief, “What are you talking about? Look at this sexy body!” Then, Kyle Busch returned the favor, “Suspect makes everyone in the house be non-toxic, but yet it’s okay for her to go get Botox.” That drew a hearty laugh from Samantha.

She retorted, “Suspect is 39 years old and still doesn’t pick out his own outfits.” To which, Kyle cleverly replied, “Why? You’re the designer.” Their back-and-forth exchange went on for a few more rounds, revealing other lesser-known details about each other. For starters, Kyle Busch “always takes his wife’s ideas and claims them as his own in business meetings.” He denied that at first, but we’re all aware of Samantha’s incredible business acumen. On the flip side, the backbone of the Busch family “claims that she’s a really good driver, but only ever wants to be a passenger princess.”
She has a fair point to counter that assumption. “Why am I married to a NASCAR driver if I have to drive?” – she says, and it’s hard to argue with that opinion. But their jogging game reached a heartwarming moment when Kyle joked, “Suspect wants me to do TikTok videos but then when I say something mean, gets her feelings hurt.” Now, longtime NASCAR fans know all too well how fiery Kyle Busch can get behind the wheel. But when he’s with his wife, that Rowdy side takes a backseat. “A thousand percent,” Samantha laughed, clearly loving the moment. “You should do [TikTok videos], and love them. And love me, period.”
As their down-to-earth video wound down to its final few seconds, it became clear. Their bond wasn’t just forged under the contract of holy matrimony; the pair built it over years of perseverance, dodging plenty of trials and tribulations. In an environment filled with such love and compassion, Brexton and his little sister Lennix are already on track to becoming true standouts, just like their parents. Regardless, as the Busch family looks forward to some adventures in the new year, this Instagram video proves they’re actively tackling a fresh problem—fitting Kyle Busch into a midget car for his USAC debut.
Samantha Busch comes to Rowdy’s rescue
Kyle Busch stands tall at six-feet-one, weighing 200 pounds. That’s not a problem when you’re making rounds weekly in a 3,200-pound Next-Gen NASCAR. He has plenty of room to stretch his feet with those dimensions. Now, squeeze that same frame into a midget car—barely 84 inches bumper to bumper—and things get a little snug for a man of Busch’s stature. He’s told the media multiple times in the build-up to his USAC debut that he’s “too big” for these micro racers.
In a recent video on Kyle Busch’s social handles, he struggled to make it out of his midget. However, the 39-year-old racing icon wasn’t at all embarrassed and took it all with the stride of a champion. He still has time to become as aerodynamic as the younger guys on the dirt tracks he will compete against in a few days. And from the looks of things, the Rowdy One isn’t shying away from taking his wife’s help with this little situation.

He reposted the original video on his Instagram story and shared, “I think it’s time to go on one of @samanthabusch diets.” Thankfully for Kyle, his wife wears many hats. Samantha is an author, entrepreneur, lifestyle blogger, IVF advocate, philanthropist,” and much more. She’s also an avid fitness enthusiast and works out regularly to stay in shape to counter the relentless grind of travel during the NASCAR season. Her blogs online preach about a healthier lifestyle and are a must-read for anyone looking to better their well-being. Anyway, here’s to hoping Samantha can get Kyle Busch ready for his dirt racing swing in the off-season!
