The end of the All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro was filled with celebrations for $1 million winner, Joey Logano, but at the same time, a major brawl was brewing on pit road. With Ricky Stenhouse Jr making good on his statements to confront Busch, the eventual altercation between the two drivers left the #47 JTG Daugherty driver with a major bill to pay.
Owing to the pre-meditated nature of Ricky Stenhouse Jr’s sucker punch to Kyle Busch, the 36-year-old was fined a staggering $75,000. However, Rowdy seemed to get away completely scot-free, despite wrecking Stenhouse Jr intentionally on the track. So when Busch finally addressed the situation later, no one expected Rowdy to take things further.

Going back to the All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro, NASCAR fans witnessed some of the craziest pit-road squabbles in recent memory. After Kyle Busch alleged that Stenhouse Jr had pushed him into the barriers on lap 2, Rowdy answered back by right-rearing Stenhouse Jr’s #47 into oblivion. This naturally led to Stenhouse Jr losing his cool, and making his way toward Busch’s trailer to share a few words.
But instead of a few words, heated blows were exchanged, as a result of which JTG Daugherty was handed race suspensions and the big fine. Apart from Stenhouse Jr having to shell out $75,000 to make amends, two pit crew members were also suspended for four and eight Cup races, respectively. Stenhouse Jr’s father, Richard Stenhouse, has also been suspended indefinitely from visiting NASCAR races.
On the other hand, Kyle Busch got away without even a disqualification for his on-track shenanigans. Reflecting on the pushback from fans over Rowdy getting away scot-free, the RCR star felt the need to highlight how none of JTG Daugherty Racing’s post-brawl misery was in his hands. Busch was quoted by Racer, “NASCAR levies penalties, That’s not my problem. It doesn’t matter whether I agree or not, NASCAR makes the penalties.”
Speaking of which, Busch felt not much of his opinion was influenced by rewatching the on-boards from the incident. For Busch, it was still Stenhouse Jr’s eagerness that had cost them the race. He stated, “Nope. I gave extra room, and when I was dragging the fence, he smashed [into] my door.”
Whilst the animosity may still be there, Kyle Busch also shared his disinterest in fighting with Ricky Stenhouse Jr further on this matter. Instead, Busch threw some shade in typical Rowdy fashion; “I don’t need a fight with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. I need a fight with the top three guys so I can start winning some races.”
Although it’s safe to say Kyle Busch is taking no pressure from the community over the All-Star Brawl, Ricky Stenhouse Jr is taking a more positive approach to the whole ordeal.

When Ricky Stenhouse Jr approached NASCAR to know more about the penalty handed to him, the JTG Daugherty Racing driver was met with a cold shoulder. According to Stenhouse Jr, NASCAR was only willing to speak on the matter if Stenhouse Jr paid the fine or made an appeal. Until then, there was nothing Stenhouse Jr could do.
Fortunately, fans and veteran insiders alike have been using their voices to highlight Stenhouse Jr’s unfortunate fate. The JTG Daugherty Racing driver has found a silver lining in this ordeal. He was quoted by ON3, “Yeah, I mean, I think for the most part the whole industry and the fanbase has kind of weighed in on the side that I feel like I fall on. Luckily for us, we’re not having to say a whole lot.”

Although fans were not calling out Kyle Busch directly for his involvement, many pointed out how the penalties seemed unfair on Stenhouse Jr as Rowdy got away scot-free. But for Stenhouse Jr, the support from fans and fellow drivers like Dale Earnhardt Jr and Chase Elliott was rather unfathomable. He concluded by highlighting his gratitude to the fans looking out for him.
Stenhouse Jr stated, “I’d say 90% of the Cup field kind of thinks the same way and seems to be about 95% of our fanbase thinks the same way. So, that’s nice to have all of them in our corner. I don’t know if that helps or not it’s still 75 grand that I have to pay. But it does make you feel good at least most of the people in the industry are feeling the same way.”
