Of course, Wallace emerged as a winner in his fight against the flag, because NASCAR heard his concerns and banned the flag. Obviously, fans weren’t happy about it because the flag has been a part of the sport ever since it’s conception. But American sports analyst, Shannon Sharpe gave the harsh reality of the flag in a 2020 episode of the Skip and Shannon: UNDISPUTED podcast.

The analyst gave a harsh reality about the flag as he talked about the fans of the sport who denied that the flag had anything to do with racism, “If you look at the supremacist, you look at whatever, Skip(referring to the co-host, Skip Bayless). Okay. All right, why is that flag so prominent? It doesn’t even matter. It doesn’t matter if it’s America, it doesn’t matter if it’s Germany, it doesn’t matter where they are. It doesn’t matter the nationality if you have a belief and you practice racism. You believe in racism. You believe that white are superior.”

Sharpe then added by questioning the flag in conversation with his co-host, “Why do they always carry that flag? If that’s not what it represents?”

And Bayless added, “And what is effectively the caption always underneath that Confederate flag? The south shall rise again.”

Of course, it brings a lot of question marks on the intention of the Confederate Flag. Fortunately or unfortunately, the flag is now out of the equation in the sport. Despite the flak, NASCAR got from the fans, Steve Phelps remained firm on his decision to ban the flag.

Something like the Confederate Flag that’s been a part of NASCAR from the start being banned is bound to bring a lot of hate. And it sure did! But we already know the implication of the flag as Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless highlighted the negativity in the meaning.

Sharpe talked about the cycle that the flag promotes, “So what did that mean. Cuz were you that your with when you’re at your absolute best. Business was booming through slavery. Wise word, Dean. The Superior. That’s why they kept the black suppressed. That’s why they kept him in slavery. So in other words, if they shall rise again was Yep. If there’s gonna return to the old.”

And Bayless complemented NASCAR and discussed how the sport ending that cycle might be great for their business, “I say also, Bravo to NASCAR, because there’s some financial risk, right? And yet long term. I’m hoping that short-term loss will mean long-term gain, right? Maybe it brings a new wave of younger fans in who say. Cool organization, right? They took a stand.”
