NASCAR’s Garage 56 project really stole the spotlight in sports car racing back in 2023, and looking back, it’s even more jaw-dropping than we remembered. Here’s why it’s getting buzz again: Trackhouse Racing is gearing up to show off a NASCAR G56 during a demo lap at COTA right after the MotoGP qualifiers this Saturday. But what does that mean?
Trackhouse Racing is the only crew from the States mixing it up at the top tier of MotoGP, and they’re also setting up for a cool photo shoot next Wednesday at the Texas State Capitol in Austin. Right now, the chat’s all about G56 and MotoGP, but there’s a whisper going around—could they be plotting a run at the 24 Hours of Le Mans too?

Last year, the NASCAR world got all accelerated up when NASCAR and Hendrick Motorsports let slip that they were tweaking a NASCAR Cup Series Next Gen car to take on 24 Hours of Le Mans at Sebring International Raceway. The buzz was all about how it’d be the first time a Cup car hit Le Mans since ’76. And even though it was a whole different situation from the usual NASCAR ovals, Rick Hendrick‘s team totally nailed it.
But what’s Trackhouse Racing got to do with all this? Here’s the deal: the demo lap that Justin Marks’s crew is about to tear up is dubbed G56, which sounds a lot like it’s nodding to Garage 56. So, does this mean we might see them tearing it up at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year?
