NASCAR driver, Kyle Larson committed a career suicide while accidentally saying the N-word during an i-racing event. Soon after NASCAR and Chip Ganassi Racing gave public statements condemning his comment and announcing their respective punishments for the driver.

Yesterday, Chip Ganassi Racing went a step further and announced that Larson has been fired. Additionally, his sponsors Credit One Bank, McDonald’s and Fisherv also decided to end their association.

But is this the end of Larson’s career in NASCAR and motorsports. How long will it take before another team grabs the former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year?

Larson is a talented driver, he has won six races and has 101 top-10 finishes. Many people view him as an upcoming top racer. And he might be back in NASCAR sooner than you think.

Kyle Larson could still make it back in NASCAR

This isn’t the first instance in motorsports when a driven has risen back from a disgraceful incident like Kyle’s. Here are a few motorsport drivers who found their way back after falling into controversies.

IndyCar Racing Driver Santino Ferrucci

In 2018, Trident racing fired the driver after multiple incidents including his racist rant against his teammate in Formula 2. A series of controversies ended his Formula 1 dream but he still found his way back in motorsports. A year after his suspension, he is an upcoming star in the NTT IndyCar Series.

Formula 2 driver Dan Ticktum

He was involved in an incident during his British single-seater championship days. He purposely hit his MSA Formula championship rival for revenge. This resulted in him getting a 2-year ban from racing at the age of 16. However, today he is competing in FIA Formula 2 and is a junior driver of Williams F1.

Moto GP racer Romano Fenati

During a Moto 2 race in September 2018, he got caught grabbing a rival’s brakes while both were running at 160 mph. Resulting in him getting a sack and cancelation of his racing license. This wasn’t his first such offense and it attracted worldwide negative publicity for the driver. However in November 2018, it was announced that he would return to Moto 3 for the next season.

The bottom line is, Kyle did make a mistake but a driver of his caliber could easily find his way to the top motorsports league soon.
