Without a doubt, Kyle Busch has one of the most illustrious careers in the history of NASCAR. While it is not just the Cup Series that he has managed to rule, his record in other competitions has been more than impressive. However, given the 38-year-old recently sold his team Kyle Busch Motorsports to Spire Motorsports, there are concerns about him retiring.

With more than two decades in the sport, Busch has probably seen it all. Despite having two Cup Series titles to his name, he is hungry for more, and his appetite continues to grow in the hopes of clinching the championship once more. Having said that, the sale of KBM has taken plenty by surprise.

Kyle Busch retiring would be a major setback for the sport

Having raced for so long, Kyle Busch is no less than a veteran in the sport. To date, he has 63 wins in the NASCAR Cup Series, the 9th on the all-time win list. While it is a massive achievement for him, he currently holds the record for the most number of wins across all three series with 229 wins to his name.

In the process, he has won the Xfinity Series once in 2009 and the Cup Series in both 2015 and 2019. While all these achievements speaking volumes of his talents, he has left his fans wondering about the likelihood of retirement, especially considering the sale of Kyle Busch Motorsports.

After selling it to Spire Motorsports, Rowdy explained, “My family has grown, my Cup Series team changed this year and our son’s racing schedule has become as demanding as my own. It’s important to me to be able to spend more time with my family and my No. 8 team at Richard Childress Racing.”

Earlier this year in July when Busch spoke to Sirius XM Cloud, he was quite particular with his ideal retirement plans. He said, “I would say in a perfect world, I kind of dreamed this up already. In a perfect world, I would retire from Cup racing when Brexton is 15 years old and I would go and run a year of Truck.“

While that would ideally mean seven years from now given Brexton Busch is currently eight years old. However, the sale of KBM and the news of his Lake Norman residence being on sale left his faithful concerned about him expediting his retirement. Luckily, his wife Samantha Busch came up with the answer on Instagram.

As she left a heartfelt message on the sale of KBM, she replied to a fan in the comment section. To the fan asking if all this was hinting towards a retirement for Busch, Samantha clearly said, “Nope, not at all.” Obviously, it is not the ideal time for the Richard Childress Racing driver to retire, especially when he has one big record still left to achieve.

Kyle Busch still remains in the hunt to achieve a unique record in NASCAR

At this stage in his career, Kyle Busch has the liberty to target specific records given what he has accomplished. While he has managed to win both the Cup Series and Xfinity at least once in his career, it is the Truck Series title that still remains unachieved in his record books.

Should he win that, Busch will become the first-ever driver to have won all three series of NASCAR. It would indeed be a stellar achievement and probably the ideal testament to the wonderful career he has had in the sport. Having said that, it would be interesting to see how he goes about it especially as he now doesn’t have Kyle Busch Motorsports to his name. Either way, given his popularity and talent behind the wheel, he could easily land a spot to compete in the Truck Series.
