Did you know that iRacing paved the way for William Byron‘s entry into the NASCAR Cup Series? Yes, that’s right! Apart from Byron, many motorsport enthusiasts gained a perspective of stock car racing through this virtual means. Released on 26th August 2008, the game flaunts a staggering 170,000 players in the fray. iRacing unravels its massive expansion plans

Back in September this year, iRacing disclosed an update on the workings of their upcoming game, ‘ExoCross, the ultimate evolution of DRAG: Outer Zones,’ unveiling that they’re planning to launch the game in 2024. iRacing started by disclosing ExoCross’ brand new ‘Quick Race’ mode, which would be using the same AI code that’s behind iRacing’s success, and wrote, “We wanted to give a quick update on the development of ExoCross! We have an all new Quick Race game mode fully playable against a field of drivers using the underlying AI code from iRacing.”

Next up is ExoCross’ new backend service that would streamline multiplayer gaming across different platforms. Apart from that, a new 4th zone has been created, boasting 14 unique track setups to race on. iRacing gave the update and wrote, “We’ve migrated our online gameplay to a new backend service, which has allowed us to begin getting multiplayer working across all our platforms. A new 4th zone has been created, which will include 14 unique new track configs to race, and a new 3rd vehicle model is now playable!”

However, it’s the new challenges, the personalized feel, and the playability of the game that makes it an adrenaline-packed adventure. And to everyone’s pleasure, iRacing didn’t hold back from making the game more enticing than ever and came up with some exciting updates and shared, “We’ve built a new set of 48 challenges, spread across each of the 4 zones, and have made changes to improve the menu system and in-game UI. Significant improvements have been made to the vehicle physics and tire model, as well as adding new engine sounds unique to each vehicle!”

Nonetheless, the ExoCross development ain’t done yet. iRacing concluded the thread with their final update and wrote, “We’re also excited to be porting Exocross from PC to Xbox and PlayStation as well! We’re still working hard to complete the online feature set and the new offline Championship Mode, and we look forward to sharing additional updates in the New Year!”
