Corey LaJoie and Spire Motorsports bid goodbye to each other after the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series came to an end. This marked the end of a four-year-long relationship. In February, LaJoie equaled his best career result in the NASCAR Cup Series. He finished fourth in the season-opening Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway. However, while LaJoie was turning out to be quite a favorite, he left the steering of the No.7 Chevrolet Camaro.
While his career might have shown us flashes of his family legacy, currently, it hangs by a fine thread. Given that he is not a part of the Spire Motorsports team, there have been rumors here and there about how he can come back.
LaJoie can mount for the Truck if things do not go in his favour

LaJoie had a promising start with Spire Motorsports in 2021. He contributed to the team’s early development. However, consistent results proved elusive. His career highlights which was a trio of fourth-place finishes came exclusively on superspeedways. By 2024, even those occasional strong performances had disappeared. He ended up making a mid-season move to Rick Ware Racing. However, he failed to spark the turnaround he hoped for. This made LaJoie completely lose out on the kind of strength he once exhibited. Although he had signed a multiyear extension with the team in 2023, he chose to bid goodbye in July.
Announcing the departure, LaJoie had said, “I won’t be driving the 7 car next year. I take a lot of satisfaction from having an integral part of building Spire into a respectable team on the grid, but unfortunately the future won’t involve me. We will finish the remainder of 2024 strong, continuing to deliver for my partners, my guys who work hard to build good cars, family, fans and friends who have supported me since day one in the Cup Series. This chapter ends after Phoenix, and I’m excited to see what the Lord has in store for my family next”.
While nothing is official as of now, a rumor page that talks about the world of NASCAR recently made a post. It read, “Here’s what I understand the Spire truck situation is for this year. 7 – All-Star truck, Pattie stays crew chief 71 – Caruth with Bono as crew chief (was on 2) 77 – Andres Perez with Chad Walter as crew chief (was on 71)07 – 2nd All-Star truck, but part-time. Maybe about half the schedule (currently). I don’t know the crew chief yet”. A fan commented, “Spire should do the funniest thing and hire Corey LaJoie for the 7 truck”.
While this could seem like a bizarre decision, the admin of the page commented back saying, “I honestly could see it happening if Corey doesn’t have a ride. Spire is still paying Corey I think, per his contract”. The decision to discontinue the alliance for the 2025 Cup Series had been from the team and given that the contract was already signed, it is still not known if LaJoie is getting paid. During the official announcement, it was said from the team, “This is a performance-based business, and it just hasn’t been there for several reasons…Corey deserves a fresh look from another organization, too, and we’ll do everything we can to help him get another opportunity in the Cup garage. I believe in Corey and his ability to be successful in this sport and look forward to him using this as motivation to prove all his doubters wrong”.
A move to the Truck Series would represent a significant step down for LaJoie, making it an unlikely option. However, the unpredictable nature of NASCAR leaves room for surprises. Fans would love to witness LaJoie, but whether it would be in a Truck awaits the test of time.

Cody Ware might be replacing LaJoie at Rick Ware Racing
Trending
Initially, Corey LaJoie was the one who would be driving the No.51 car for Rick Ware Racing for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series. However, currently, even that is not confirmed at the moment. The 2024 season saw him running for the team in their last seven races with the No.51 car. However, none of the results were astounding apart from a P14 finish at the Las Vegas Speedway. Bob Pockrass, NASCAR journalist announced, LaJoie’s absence from Rick Ware Racing irrespective of the mid-season swap.

Pockrass tweeted, “Corey LaJoie is still working on his 2025 plans but not expected to be full time in the RWR No. 51 in 2025,” said Pockrass while answering a fan’s question. “Cody Ware appears to be the likely driver of that car”. The car that LaJoie had been racing for the team was the only chartered option that the team owned. With most NASCAR seats across all three tiers already filled, LaJoie faces a tough situation.
LaJoie struggled to deliver consistent performance, finishing the 2024 season at a disappointing 28th position in the standings. In NASCAR’s performance-driven world, finishing outside the top 25 brings scrutiny and questions about his future. And that’s what it has been for LaJoie.
