Hailie Deegan is set to make the switch from NASCAR to IndyCar in 2025. The California native is expected to compete in the Indy NXT Series, which is just a step below IndyCar. So far, she has taken part in a few tests and is just awaiting the start of the season in March. In the buildup to her debut campaign, Deegan was just relaxing and preparing for the Christmas holidays. Recently, she and her family went go-karting and she took on a mentor role. To be precise, her youngest brother Hudson was having a run on the go-kart.
In a small Instagram story, he asked her about the comfort level in the car. As a matter of fact, he asked her whether the kart had seatbelts. Meanwhile, she was busy advising him to avoid riding on the brake pedal. What made things worse, and a little hilarious was that he made a few errors. Right off the bat, Hudson almost entered the track, backward, but his family managed to stop him in time.
A heck of an experience for Hailie Deegan’s youngest sibling

According to her testimony on Instagram, this was Hudson’s first time on a go-kart. Additionally, this was also the first time he was running, with other drivers on the track. In essence, the youngster was getting a trial by fire, and his inexperience clearly showed. This was because he spun a few times while out on the race track, but was able to recover on all occasions.
At least Hailie Deegan saw the positive side of the scenario. She dubbed that her brother was just trying to perform donuts on the track, but all in all, she was sure that he had fun. Interestingly though, this isn’t Hudson’s first time behind the wheel of a fast machine. Apparently, the young boy has competed in a fair few motocross races and he seems to be pretty good on two wheels.
The same also applies to his older brother, Haiden Deegan, who is a professional AMA supercross and motocross racer. Last year, he even won the AMA SMX 250 championship, which must have been a proud moment. It just goes to show that racing is in the blood of the Deegan family, starting with Brian Deegan, and extending to his children, Hailie, Haiden, and Hudson,

In all honesty, IndyCar will be a brand-new experience for the 23-year-old. Up until now, she had been making her way up the ranks from the ARCA level, to the Truck Series and in 2024, in the Xfinity Series. Sadly, she lost her AM Racing drive, midway through the season, and her budding career was in limbo.

Fortunately, the HMD Motorsports Indy NXT team extended a lifeline to her. Now for the upcoming campaign, Deegan will be competing against many IndyNXT stars. On the bright side, she will be far from the only rookie on the 2025 grid. Especially with Lochie Hughes, Dennis Hauger, Tommy Smith, Sophia Florsch, and Miguel Maria Garcia, making their debuts.
As for AM Racing, they will be fielding Harrison Burton, who fell out of favor with Wood Brothers Racing. The team recruited Josh Berry from the ashes of the Stewart-Haas Racing team. While Burton was bumped back down to the Xfinity Series and he will be eager to prove his mettle. Without a doubt, the target for him will be to win the Xfinity title and earn his way back into the Cup Series. How do you see Deegan’s run panning out as she steps up for a new challenge?
