There are not many drivers left in NASCAR who fit the bill of ‘outspoken’ currently. Think about it and only a handful of names come to mind: names like Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, and Denny Hamlin.

So if all three of them have spoken out publically against an incident, NASCAR must’ve messed up real bad, which, in a way, they did.

What happened was, in a long story short format, the officials completely missed the William Byron-Denny Hamlin incident, which, in an ideal world, should’ve been a caution.

But it wasn’t.

And when Scott Miller was asked about a justification on the same after the race, he simply said they missed it.

This baffled a lot of people, including one of the protagonists of the situation Denny Hamlin, his teammate Kyle Busch, and Kevin Harvick, who also was quite vocal for his own disagreements with NASCAR recently.

What did NASCAR say about the Denny Hamlin-William Byron incident?

In a post-race media address, Scott Miller laid down the honest truth to everyone seeking for it about the controversial incident during the caution at Texas.

“When we were in the tower, we were paying more attention to the actual cause of the caution up there and dispatching our equipment,” he said. “The William Byron-Denny Hamlin thing we had no eyes on. We saw Denny go through the grass.”

“By the time we got to a replay that showed the incident well enough to do anything to it, we had gone back to green.”

Miller added that the issue in their eyes isn’t completely resolved yet, something they’ll be revisiting soon.

With that said, do you think NASCAR will let go this issue or will there be penalties coming the way of William Byron that could deter his playoff campaign going forward?
