The 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Busch Light Clash concluded earlier this weekend. Needless to say, it was a resounding success and the number have shown it. Recently, the viewership numbers for the race weekend were revealed, and they look mightily impressive. Considering that this was the first time at the Coliseum, there was a sense of novelty to the event.
Even though the race aired on Fox TV, as opposed to FS1, the preliminary numbers show that the event registered 3.57 million viewers. If reports are to be believed, then this was the best statistic for the Busch Light Clash in several years. Of course, these numbers are only initial estimates, and the real figures are expected to come later.

Of course, most of the stats heavily favour the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. The global event understandably and unsurprisingly boasts of 10.30 million viewers. However, the Cup Series race at the LA Coliseum did have some incredible numbers for an inaugural race. Additionally, The Clash earned a 2.7 rating, which is FOX’s best NASCAR rating in LA in nearly six years, not an achievement to be scoffed at.
Will this set a precedent for NASCAR in future races?
Hopefully for the sport, this race will just be a taste of what is to come in the near future. One thing is for sure, the Next Gen cars certainly delivered in their debut race. Of course, there is no better place to give the cars a trial by fire than the Daytona International Speedway. This track is regarded as an iconic venue, and it will be interesting to see who emerges victorious. Team Penske driver Joey Logano has already drawn first blood at the LA Coliseum, but the real action starts at Daytona.
