It is safe to say that Brad Keselowski has not had the best start to life at Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing. However, the 2012 Cup Series champion is not hitting the panic button just yet. The #6 driver has insisted that it will take time for him to adjust to his new environment before the results come in.

In the last six races, he had three straight finishes outside the Top 20. On the bright side, he did have a season-best 9th place at the Daytona 500. In addition to that, he scored a 12th and 14th at Atlanta and COTA, respectively. This places him languishing all the way down in 34th in the championship standings.

To make matters worse for himself, he sometimes caused a few massive wrecks on the track. This did little to endear himself to his fellow drivers. Fortunately for him, the season is still long and that gives him enough time to clean up his act and redeem himself.

Brad Keselowski has defended himself from his critics

In his words, “In 2009 I had 1 win and 4 top-10s driving for HMS. I left to go to Team Penske and drive a car that sat 32nd in points. The headlines read similar to the below. It took 12 months to get the first top-10, 18 months to get the first win and 36 months to get the first championship.”

In other words, the 38-year-old has faith in his own ability to build up the team. Just like he did with Team Penske all those years ago, Keselowski is confident that he can do the same for RFK Racing. Obviously, nobody can expect him to perform miracles right off the bat. Instead, building up a team from its current position to a potential front-runner takes time. Now that he is the part owner of the outfit, he is heavily invested in the team’s development.
