Everything about Brad Keselowski moving to RFK Racing suggested a breeze of change. Keselowski coming into the team took place at a time when a new era was ushered in with the introduction of the Next-Gen cars in 2022. After a dismal first season, Keselowski and Co have bounced back from their woes and look like a completely different force this season. This turnaround has received plaudits from prominent members of the racing community.
One of which is Hendrick Motorsports legend and former crew chief Steve Letarte. Keselowski has been firm in holding on to his playoff spot this season. He explains what sets Keselowski apart from other drivers by describing the former Cup champion’s innate abilities to analyze a situation perfectly and weigh its possible options.

The former crew chief of Jeff Gordon‘s iconic #24 currently serves as an analyst and commentator for NBC. The NBC broadcast booth is a conclave of NASCAR legends like Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jeff Burton, and Marty Snider, among many more notable names. Steve says that similar to Junior and Burton, Keselowski has a different perception of the races than him. Assessing a situation accurately and acting on a plan of action accordingly has been Brad’s forte.
“When we’re up in the booth, I see 85 percent of what Burton and Dale Jr see. But there’s a 15 percent that they see that I’ll never. “ says the 44-year-old sportscaster.
“It’s because they live their lives out there on the racetrack and I think that’s where Brad should be. They have a great situation here because there’s never been a crossword between them. Chris seems like he’s at home, Brad has said he’s loved him forever. Brad has done something that I think is impossible for drivers to do, and he’s remained patient and built that place the way he wants to build it.”
When Brad took over the reins of the team, RFK Racing despite being a historic name in the sport had failed to win a Cup Series race since 2017. Buescher’s win at Bristol in the closing stages of last season was an indicator of good things to come for the team. Come 2023 and Chris Buescher has two wins on a trot at Michigan and Richmond and is locked into the playoffs.
“From the day he went over there and pressure-washed it and painted it to what it is now, he should be given a tremendous amount of credit right? He sees things differently, he definitely goes to the beat of his own drum. “
Taking into account the transformation we have seen in RFK Racing’s atmosphere and mentality, Letarte’s love for Keselowski is easily understandable.

Chris Buescher winning back-to-back in the last two weeks has planted newfound confidence in the team. After failing to qualify any of their cars for the playoffs last season, Keselowski understood that the late win at Bristol is something they could rely upon in the future to gain ground. Speaking to NBC in a post-race conversation at Michigan, the team owner says,
“It’s been two great weekends. I’m just thrilled to death for our company. There’s a lot of people just working their guts out, trying to push, work within the limits of the rules and regulations, but not leave anything on the table.”

Brad currently occupies the eighth position in the point standings and despite not having won this season, he has dished out strong performances on a consistent basis irrespective of the venue. This has helped them gather points on a regular basis and launch his bid for the playoffs in a similar style to another Ford driver in Kevin Harvick who sits in 5th.
“At the same time, (they’re) executing at the highest of levels, whether it be on pit road, restarts, whatever else it takes. I’m happy for them, their efforts, getting them the results they deserve. Also keeping our head down. We got a lot of racing left in front of us.” says the 2012 Cup champion highlighting the need to stay focused on the task at hand.
