Joey Logano has no interest in being a rookie once again. The Team Penske driver has mastered the playoff format, winning three Cup Series titles in the last seven years. Meanwhile, drivers such as Kyle Larson, who have been hailed for their versatility across various motorsport disciplines, secured six wins throughout the 2024 season. However, the Hendrick Motorsports driver had nothing to show for his consistency, crashing out in the Round of Eight during the postseason.

Having failed while attempting ‘The Double’ earlier this year, Larson is eager to try his luck once again in 2025. However, Joey Logano won’t be following in his footsteps and remains content plying his trade at the highest level of stock car racing.

Joey Logano has fought hard for a Cup Series seat. Hailing from Middletown, Connecticut, the racing driver was considered a prodigy two decades ago, and expectations were high after Mark Martin declared him a ‘can’t-miss champion.’ However, the journey has been far from easy for the reigning champion, who has been bullied and taunted by his peers and fans, even before being given a fair shake to prove himself. However, the Team Penske driver matured into a clinical racer, becoming one of the most successful drivers in the Next-Gen era. Taking these factors into consideration, would he want to go through the hardships again by competing in different motorsport disciplines?

When asked if he would like to explore other motorsport competitions, Joey Logano said, “No, I love NASCAR. I’m a person, like a creature of habit. You know, I mean like I find something I like, that’s what I’m going to do. My wife, I married her, she’s the first girl I dated when I was 16. That was the girl I love. I married her. You go to a restaurant, I find something I like, I’m going to eat that same thing every time I go there. I don’t need to try anything else. That’s who I am. I love NASCAR racing. That was my dream, that’s what I set on. That’s the only thing I want to do.”

Joey Logano has no interest in being a jack of all trades. While the 34-year-old undoubtedly has the talent and perseverance to compete in the Indianapolis 500, he would rather focus on competing in NASCAR, a sport where he has worked tirelessly to make a name for himself. The racing driver has competed across the sport’s three national series, as well as the Busch East Series and K&N Pro Series West so far. However, open-wheel racing might pose a different challenge altogether, one that the veteran isn’t keen to explore at this stage of his career.

Meanwhile, after a disastrous attempt at ‘The Double’ earlier this year, Kyle Larson will aim to compete in the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 once again in 2025. The Hendrick Motorsports driver became the fifth person who attempted to complete 1,100 miles of racing on the same day in May, but the weather played spoilsport. The experience left a bitter taste in his mouth, but the 2021 Cup Series winner will be hoping for more luck next year now that he has the support of Rick Hendrick, who said, “It was unfinished business.”

Joey Logano has been there and done that. With three championships and 36 Cup Series wins, the Team Penske driver is all set for a future spot in the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Having held off his hard-charging teammate Ryan Blaney by three-tenths of a second, the No. 22 Ford driver was so elated by the outcome that he performed celebratory donuts on Phoenix Raceway. However, after already winning titles in 2018 and 2022, the 34-year-old’s perspective this time around was slightly different.

Revealing his motivation to secure the Bill France Cup, Joey Logano said, “After doing it a couple of times, you want that feeling again but you want it for your team. It’s not about how many you have; it’s about reliving the moment. Because of how hard it is to get it, there’s no way to replicate it. All you want to do is enjoy that moment with the people who got you there.” The Connecticut native went on to say, “I want the people who grinded it out at work just as hard as me and away from their family just as much as me to be able to celebrate that. That moment is special.”

Logano feels at home while driving the No. 22 Ford, having spent over a decade with Team Penske. For many drivers, consistency and stability are key factors that help them maximize their potential and the 34-year-old is no different. Having won two championships in three years is no easy feat, but the racer seemed to have found his rhythm, securing clutch performances in a playoff format that has served him very well. Given his recent success, why would he want to struggle in any other motorsports discipline? Joey Logano is enjoying life at the moment and will be hoping to ride the wave for as long as he can.
