Ty Gibbs’s rise in NASCAR has been phenomenal in the last couple of years. The Xfinity Series regular who shines week-in week-out was provided with a Cup Series opportunity and he, yet again, came out bright. Gibbs explains his sudden rise to fame in the game.

23XI driver Kurt Busch crashed during Saturday’s Qualifying session in Pocono. This resulted in NASCAR’s medical protocol to park Busch ahead of his race. The Cup Series team then picked up Gibbs to replace Busch on the race day.

“I felt like the best way to describe it that I told my friends this was like, can you play NBA 2k? (Gibbs asked this to Dale Earnhardt) They have a career mode and you know you go from a high school player to college player to be on NBA.”

“And you’ve got all of a sudden, you know they’ve got all of these cameras on you and that’s exactly how I felt.”

Tyler Randal Gibbs further shared on his debut, “People are screaming, Bob was screaming at me and Claire B was at me and I’m like, ah, who do I answer to, I don’t know. I’ve never been in a situation. It was just a lot. It was really quick. It was super cool, it was like a moment I’ll never forget.”

“I remember standing in the media and I’m just like, I mean, from here to the wall was just thick with people. I don’t know how to put this thing in gear yet and I got all the media around me.”, concluded the grandson of Joe Gibbs, owner of Joe Gibbs Racing.
