It looks like everything is going in favor of William Byron right now. After his heroics at the Pennzoil 400 last Sunday, the Hendrick Motorsports driver is all set to compete in three races in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races this year. What’s even more interesting is that he will be driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports. This marks Byron’s return to KBM since leaving the garage in 2016. In fact, while he raced for them, he set the record for most wins (7) by a rookie driver in the Truck Series.
Despite this, team owner Kyle Busch is slightly disappointed with this arrangement and commented on the same.

Kyle Busch attended the pre-race conference in Arizona, where he was asked about his reaction concerning Byron’s return to Kyle Busch Motorsports. The 2023 Auto Club 400 winner said, “Yeah, that’s going to be great for us. Really good to have William (Byron) – a KBM alum – to come back and work with us again and being a part of the Chevy team.”
“Excited that HendrickCars.com, Rick (Hendrick), Jeff (Gordon), and everybody there at HMS partnered with us on this and got William three races [Bristol, Darlington & North Wilkesboro]. Those were the ones he chose.”
Having said that, he pointed out what disappointed him a bit. Busch continued, “He stole one [race] of mine actually. I’m still bummed I don’t get to run at North Wilkesboro. But it will be nice to have an experienced driver again that can come over and continue to help evaluate and it not just be me.”

Kyle Busch further added, “We’ve got a lot of new people over there [KBM]. Brian Pattie and that whole group, the majority of that group is new, so it will be nice to get another set of eyes on it, if you will.”
While the 37-year-old had positive words for William Byron, it wasn’t the case with Joey Logano.

It is no secret how Kyle Busch and Joey Logano are at each other given the opportunity. This time around, the former took the opportunity and blamed the defending Cup Series champion for the wreck-fest in California.
Kyle Busch highlighted it at the same conference. He said, “It’s [longer restart zones] only added a negative end to it because at California, Joey (Logano) was just maintaining his speed, and everyone was gaining, gaining, gaining, gaining, and closing up their gaps because they were all trying to lay back and then time the run.”
“So he just waited for everybody to run into everybody and then went at the end of the zone.”
