The year 2022 was kind of a roller coaster ride for former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick. For starters, news regarding Patrick’s break-up with American Businessman Carter Comstock made it to the headlines. Her professional career too was tumultuous, and the IndyCar driver was not doing too well physically and mentally.
In 2021, Danica Patrick was diagnosed with high levels of mercury in her bloodstream. Due to that, the 40-year-old former Cup Series driver suffered a series of health issues. Around April 2022, Patrick realized that her breast implants were the source of her illness.
After getting her implants removed, Patrick claimed that she felt much better and since then, she had been trying to improve her physical and mental health. However, the process was not easy. In a December 2022 episode of her YouTube podcast, Danica shared that she reached a breaking point in October 2022.

To this, her sister simply replied, “Then don’t.” Hearing that, Patrick started crying and opened up to her sister. Talking about the incident in the podcast, she said, “I am so f*cking tired. I am so f*cking tired of trying so hard. And she’s like ‘You’re not broken. Like you’re not broken. You’re fine. Your body knows what to do. You are fine. You operate just fine. Like relax. Let it go.’
“And so there’s that spiritual psychological perspective of focusing so hard on what’s not right that you keep getting more of it. And so I just kind of quit a lot of things.”
Following this, Patrick conveyed her intention of taking a break from her doctor Mindy Pelz. Pelz, a nutritionist and functional health expert, agreed to Patrick’s request and this drastically changed her life.
