Kyle Larson and Joey Logano are among the most popular names in the Cup Series arena. While the former stunned everyone with his 2021 championship feat, the latter has done it twice in his career. One can argue that statistics do not always justify the true story. However, those numbers are the ones that play a key role in motivating these drivers. Reaching a certain landmark in the record books does bring the best out of many. Kyle Larson recently had his say in what he thinks about that.

Kyle Larson has his take on statistics

Kyle Larson recently appeared in the”Stacking Pennies with Corey LaJoie” podcast. The host described how Joey Logano was obsessed with statistics, especially with the all-time list. When asked if statistics matter to him, Larson said, “Umm yeah, I would say, I do… I know that I’m probably never going to get to the top. So I guess that’s why I don’t look at that. Obviously, I want to get as high up as I can.

“I think what I more look at is like the year-to-year stats like wins. Not only wins but top fives top tens and laps led and stuff like that. Yeah, I look at everybody’s stats to compare myself to them whether in that season or if they had a good year. What was their good year? What that looked like, stuff like that. So yeah I look at that.”

It is interesting how modern-day drivers are wary of the statistics. As long as it instigates healthy competition, let the statistical data flow.
