The new ‘villain’ of the NASCAR paddock, Denny Hamlin, made headlines again for the second consecutive week. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver, who is riding high on the waves of success, seems to end up at the shorter end of the track every other weekend for not budging from his ultimate goal of winning the championship. The driver was showered with boos after winning both in Pocono and Bristol from his three victories in the season.

The race at Texas on Sunday was no exception, as the fans seemed to derive pleasure from the struggles of the No. 11 Toyota driver, and this time it is his teammate and the grandson of the team boss who is to be blamed, as he gets applauded by the NASCAR enthusiasts.

The playoff race at Texas was surely the unwrapping of a Chinese box. As the race progressed into the day, the on-track incidents seemed to intensify. It was speculated that the track that is marked with its unique structure and variable banking could be a curve ball for the driver and threaten their on-track position.

It was not long before it materialized as tires flew on the track and the yellow was waved into the air. Moreover, the pit stops were nothing less than a headache for most of the drivers, especially for Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin. While a prolonged pit stop recurred for another week and forced him to fall in position, his teammate Denny Hamlin found himself in a precarious position with the team boss’ grandson, Ty Gibbs.

The incident occurred at Lap 77 when Hamlin was exiting the pit road, and behind him was rookie driver Ty Gibbs, also exiting the pit road. However, the rookie did not take heed of Hamlin’s position and shoved him after making contact on the right door of the No. 11 with his right rear. An enraged Hamlin was heard saying on the radio, “F*ck. God damn it.”

Dustin Albino posted an update with the words, “Denny Hamlin and Ty Gibbs make big contact on pit road. The right side of the No. 11 car is destroyed.”

As a result, Hamlin incurred heavy losses and damaged the right side of the car, while it ended the day for Joe Gibbs’ grandson. Moreover, the driver seemed to be mired in a number of controversies, especially after crashing into Ryan Blaney.

While Gibbs retired from the race due to the heavy damage, fans seemed to enjoy the struggles of the driver.

Fans wrote on Twitter, “I’m even more of a Ty Gibbs fan now lol.’
