Blatantly aggressive on the track, Kyle Busch’s Rowdy moniker perfectly sums up his driving style. Starting out as a brash young driver in the Cup Series, Busch has now turned into one of the most poised and analytical drivers in NASCAR’s stable. Although far from retirement, Kyle Busch already has retirement plans in place and is ready to pass on the Busch family racing torch to his 8-year-old son, Brexton.
Speaking to Jason Stein on the Cars and Culture podcast, Rowdy had some encouraging words to spare for his son, pushing Brexton to be more like him.

With 63 wins in the Cup Series, 102 wins in the Xfinity Series, and 64 wins in the Craftsman Truck Series, Kyle Busch is the winningest driver on NASCAR’s tracks. Following in his father’s footsteps, Brexton Busch has now fully engrossed himself in the world of racing, competing in the Box Stock division.
With the Busch family genes engrained in his veins, Busch had earlier revealed to Jason Stein how Brexton didn’t accept losing races well. Having to teach his son to be a gracious loser, Rowdy recently spewed out some motivational words for the 8-year-old.
Pushing Brexton to be more like him, Rowdy said, “When I was a kid, when I started racing, I didn’t win right away and I was like, ‘Oh no, I’m not good, I’m not gonna make it. I’m not like my dad. This sucks!’ you know? And then boom, a switch flipped and I started winning, and then I started winning all the time. I was winning everything and the same thing, I was getting booed and all this stuff. So I was like, ‘Okay, this is kind of what its like, this is what my dad was feeling and what he was all about’.”
Kyle Busch further added, “But its about the work ethic you put in, the drive and the determination that you have. And being instilled in it at such a young age, being in the garage at 7-8 years old, working on your own car, working on your brother’s car when he started racing, because he started racing before I did. That just gave me that fire and that desire and that passion to be able to wanna go out there and do it.”
