JJ Yeley, driver of the #14 Camaro for SS-Green Light Racing, caused the second caution in the RAPTOR King of Tough 250 NASCAR Xfinity Race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway halfway through the second stage. Kyle Weatherman’s Chevy spun JJ Yeley’s #14 car, coming into turn 1, bringing out the white flag on lap 58 of the intense race. Safe to say, the 47-year-old’s team wasn’t thrilled by the whole ordeal.

JJ Yeley’s spin ignited a pit lane confrontation; Weatherman responded on social media

After being bumped into the wall, Yeley showed his steely experience controlling the drag as his car slid onto the infield, making an almost perfect recovery. The former Joe Gibbs Racing and Rick Ware Racing driver had to pit, however, citing a change of tires. Along with that, though, Yeley vented his frustration, exclaiming, “I just hope someone has bail money, ’cause I’m gonna knock Kyle Weatherman the f**k out.”

His spotter responded, “I got you covered.” And that’s precisely what happened. As Yeley came into the pit lane, Jason Miller of the #14 crew asked, “What pit stall is the 91 [Weatherman] in?” A voice from Yeley’s team replied with a resounding warning, “He better have some pants on after this race because I’m going to come find him.”

After the race, Yeley’s crew chief Miller attacked Weatherman as soon as the 26-year-old exited his car. Fortunately, he was quickly restrained by NASCAR officials. He was even seen issuing a warning to the driver of the #91. “Next time you touch my racecar!” Weatherman, on the other hand, shared his side of the story on social media in a lighthearted dig, poking fun at the entire situation.

He wrote on X, “Eventful day here in @ATLMotorSpdwy ended up P.17, right where we started.” After explaining he had LR damage early in the race, Weatherman addressed the elephant in the room. “Right when I’m getting out of the car, a crew member comes over to my car and wants to pick a fight 😂
@NASCAR official took him down just as fast as he came over,”
he added. But it was his follow-up tweet that wasn’t just hilarious but also answered a burning question fans had.

While this brawl added a little more drama to the race – some may even call it a highlight – it wasn’t the only one that got the fans’ attention.

While the Yeley-Weatherman drama grabbed headlines, the on-track action was equally thrilling. Rookie driver Jesse Love dominated the first two stages, securing the sixth consecutive stage win for Richard Childress Racing. However, the drama unfolded in the final laps as Love, leading the pack for prolonged periods, looked poised for victory. But a late-race fuel gamble backfired, leaving his #2 Camaro for RCR gasping for fuel in overtime.

This unexpected twist of fate opened the door for teammate Austin Hill, who capitalized on the opportunity and crossed the finish line first. Hill’s win marked his second consecutive victory in the 2024 Xfinity Series after winning the United Rentals 300 season opener just days prior. The #21 RCR driver solidified his dominance at his home track of Atlanta further as his win on the weekend marked his second straight victory at the reconfigured superspeedway.
