In the recent episode of SHOWTIME Basketball, Bubba Wallace revealed the harrowing experience he had at the Dover Motor Speedway. While reminiscing about his rookie season in 2010, Bubba revealed that the last race of that season was in Dover, Delaware.
Furthermore, he shared, “The guy that was helping run our program at that time Andy Center he said, ‘Hey, I’ve raced here a lot of times in this series, and turn one is tricky. Like you’re gonna have to drive over the hump into turn one and let the car settle and do its work, trust me it’s going to work.”
But what Wallace was about to encounter was not just a ‘bump.’ He said, “So, I go out, get up through the gears, and I go through three and four and it’s a little rough. You’re kind of bouncing around and come by to take the green and you go over the hump.”
However, that’s when his world turned upside down. Wallace shared, “But it’s like a ski jump and you come down and slam the ground, you don’t (actually) but it feels like it. The sensation is like ‘Oh!!’ And you get slammed down and I said ‘Fu*k that! Absolutely not! Like I was terrified of that place and I’ll take this to my grave”.

No matter how scared Bubba Wallace was after his first time at Dover, it did not stop him from coming back strong. Apart from the ski-like bump on turn 1, Wallace experienced a lot of other issues on the track. He revealed that one of the drivers who was competing with him for the Rookie of the Year award blew up a tire right in front of him.
Furthermore, his car experienced innumerable problems and it kept on stumbling. And as a result, Wallace ended up blowing up his tire on the fence. However, Wallace did clinch the Rookie of the Year award that year, but maybe that didn’t help him much in getting over Dover. Then, what did?
