Home/NASCAR

The hype is high around the NASCAR world as we are about to launch another father-son rivalry in history softly. This time, it’s Kevin Harvick and Keelan Harvick’s turn to put on a formidable show, keeping aside all the love and affection due to sharing the same DNA. The show is approaching, and the message is clear. It’s all about the car and the race now.

It won’t be a battle for Kevin, but it would be a make-or-break challenge for the 12-year-old who is a budding newbie in the professional mix of high-profile cars.

But it seems it’s not just his reputation and potential as a driver that is on the line, but also huge money is involved. Father Kevin made it tough for his boy ahead of the much sought-after fray.

For a 12-year-old kid to achieve fluency and patience on tracks isn’t a cakewalk, but Keelan has learned it for the best, so it’s safe to bet a dime for. Keelan Harvick has already been unstoppable in his strive to be better even in the preparatory stage. The generation star’s debut in Pro Late Models is showing every sign of being a career-breaking moment altogether, as he is stepping toward a seamless transition into the hectic schedule and competitive atmosphere of the stock car tour. The watchful eyes of Kevin never left his boy alone on the road, but he made it clear that he was not going to go easy on him if he screws him up; rather, his car is for a late spot in the competition.

”We are going to get race against each other so yeah I can’t wait to talk about where we are going to start as we get into this show a little bit down the road here, yes it’s going to be at the same time so I have a feeling that will get competitive. There is already a lot of talking going on in the house,” Harvick divulged in a recent episode of Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hours podcast.

The father-son duo will drive for Rackley W.A.R.’s Super Late Model and Pro Late Model programs throughout the season, and it’s up to the elder Harvick if the car gets damaged.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Kevin Harvick too tough on Keelan, or is it the perfect recipe for success?

Have an interesting take?

He knows that he is good and now dad’s got it. I have had to explain this is not a go car, this is not a legend car, and if you wreck my a**, it’s expensive, and I am paying for it. So, you better be sure if you wreck me, you better be for something really really good, and not for the fifth place or something middle,’‘ Harvick issued a stern warning to his son.

Harvick clinched a victory in the 2014 Cup Series championship, inspiring racers from his hometown of Bakersfield. He achieved 60 career Cup Series victories, tying as ninth on the all-time winners list, adding further value to his NASCAR resume.

The list of feats is never-ending, but now he is on another journey. As a teacher and as a father, now he is here to see his son shine. But the road seems to be bumpy ahead.

No special privilege to Keelan Harvick

You might consider Kevin Harvick’s presence in his son’s career as a token of blessing for the kid, but his GOAT father doesn’t think so. After a historic career backed up by 13 consecutive playoff appearances, Harvick decided to pull the rug of his NASCAR career back in 2023. In a sensible justification, the veteran mentioned that retirement would allow him to spend more quality time with his family, especially monitoring Keelan’s growth on the racetrack.

Keelan has already stepped into the dream path of his father, making a debut in Limited Late Model racing at Florence Motor Speedway in South Carolina, finishing in eighth place. Keelan’s performance turned heads in the first shot, but his father had glaring issues with the stint.

Kevin Harvick noted that his son was aware that he had his father and other veterans around and received enough guidance throughout the process. He also deemed it as the biggest issue and regretted that they should just let him go without giving any tips and advice.

It’s just a father’s way of chiseling the best out of his son; no matter how rude you think it is, you can’t help! Fathers are tough and know how to burn it to pure gold.
