Being a NASCAR driver isn’t for the faint of heart. With over 20 races a year, countless hours on the road, and the pressure to perform at 200 mph, it’s a lifestyle that demands everything. But while drivers like Kyle Busch get to live the dream of racing for a living, the real unsung heroes are often their families—the ones who pack up their lives and hit the road, season after season. That sacrifice comes with a few ground rules for Samantha Busch, wife of the two-time Cup Series champion.

As she recently made clear on Instagram, Busch’s opinions are strictly off the table when planning the family’s vacations.

Samantha Busch has never been simply along for the ride—she’s a cornerstone of the Busch family’s racing empire. With nearly 250,000 Instagram followers, she’s built a platform that’s equal parts glamorous and grounded, sharing everything from her struggles with infertility to her recent triumph over alopecia. But today, she turned the spotlight on her husband—and let’s just say, Kyle wasn’t exactly in the driver’s seat.

In a recent Instagram reel, Samantha lip-synced to a clip from The Office, channeling Michael Scott’s iconic line: “Let me explain something to you. I set the rules and you follow them blindly, okay? And if you have a problem with that, then you can talk to our complaint department. It’s a trash can.” The caption was a cheeky nod to her hectic life: “When I go to 25 races a year and my husband tries to have an opinion on our week-off plans.”

For Samantha, planning the Easter week off from NASCAR is one of the perks of supporting Rowdy through nearly 10 months of NASCAR every year, something she’s been doing for over a decade. And it’s not just her presence at the tracks, Samantha is the glue that holds the Busch family together, juggling her husband’s Cup Series schedule, their son Brexton’s burgeoning racing career, and raising their two-year-old daughter, Lennix. And while she’s happy to support her boys on the track, she’s made it clear that when it comes to planning their rare downtime, she’s the one calling the shots.

She didn’t stop there. Samantha elaborated on her post, writing, “Maybe like 25 or more NASCAR races a year and then tack on a good 100 more for races Brexton 🫠 They pick the race tracks, I pick the vacay spots—it’s a non-negotiable! 😏✈️🏝️ Yes, I know the season hasn’t really started yet, but I’m already looking at where to go for our one off week!”

With young Brexton making his name in NASCAR’s grassroots series, managing a schedule of parenting, working on her business, and her role as a social media influencer isn’t easy, but Samantha Busch manages to do it all. Her presence makes both Rowdy and Brexton better. Yet, she remains humble about her role in it all. Just look at what she said after Brexton won the Tulsa Shootout. “We know that we live a very crazy life that a lot of times we are big pain in the a– We know but we appreciate each and everyone of you guys and everything that you do for us and make our life so much better and get Brexton his driller. And I hope everyone had a fun night and congratulations and cheers to everyone.”

Rowdy will need this support going into 2025 as he takes on a familiar foe: the Daytona 500.

While Samantha is busy ruling the roost, Kyle Busch is laser-focused on bouncing back from a tough 2024 season. The two-time Cup Series champion endured a winless streak that stretched to 57 races, a stark contrast to his usual dominance. His 2025 season opener at the Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium didn’t go as planned either, with Busch finishing a disappointing 15th after battling a tight car and multiple wrecks.

But if there’s one thing Kyle Busch knows how to do, it’s fight back. The off-season saw him return to his roots, racing Legends cars for the first time in 22 years and making his debut at the Chili Bowl Nationals. While the results were mixed, the effort was undeniable. As Samantha quipped during his Legends car return, “You’re starting last, there’s 12 cars. What’s our goal? I say 5th.” Kyle, ever the realist, replied, “Pass ‘em one at a time… I don’t have a clue what I’m doing there right now.” He finished 8th, but the fire was clearly reignited.

Now, all eyes are on the Daytona 500, where Busch will look to kick off his 2025 campaign with a statement win. His Richard Childress Racing teammate, Austin Dillon, has already noted a shift in Busch’s mindset, saying, “I think Kyle is learning a lot… He’s a happier person. Personally, I like being around Kyle. He’s a champion of our sport, and we just have to put maximum effort in every week to deliver the best product.”

As for Samantha, she’s got her own Daytona 500 plans to finalize. Known for her impeccable race-day fashion, she recently revealed that Florida’s warm weather has forced a last-minute wardrobe change. When a fan asked if she’d picked out her outfit for the big race, Samantha responded candidly: “I did, but now that it’s gonna be so warm, I don’t.”

At the end of the day, the Busch family is a team—both on and off the track. While Kyle battles for wins and Brexton follows in his father’s tire tracks, Samantha is the steady force keeping everything running smoothly. And as her recent Instagram antics show, she’s not afraid to remind her husband who’s really in charge when it comes to family time.
