FOXSport’s Bob Pockrass recently shared an interview clip of Austin Dillon on his Twitter handle. In the video, Dillon was asked how Kyle Busch and Richard Childress Racing (RCR) will fight together but not fight among themselves. This question was hinted towards the unfortunate physical altercation between Busch and Childress that occurred in 2011.

Further, the interviewer said; “Some are saying that this is either going to be great or it’s going to implode in 18 months to 2 years.” Laughing at the statement, Dillon explained; “Look throughout history – about the different drivers that my grandfather has been able to work with. He knows if Kyle’s upset we gotta make something better.”

Moreover, Dillon revealed that there is something he would also bring to the table. He said; “And I think that something, I hope, I can bring to Kyle is calmness too. It’s like ‘Hey man! It’s gonna be another race, we’re gonna be alright.”

“I was just talking to Danny Lawrence a couple of weeks ago. And Dan is like ‘We gotta get him here.’ And I was like, ‘We’re working on it, pal!’ And it all came to fruition and we are just excited. I think we are a good fit for Kyle.”

When Tyler Reddick announced that he would be moving ahead with 23XI Racing in 2024, Dillon believed that Busch would be a great fit for the team. He forwarded his suggestion to his grandfather who asked Dillon to set up a meeting. Although things between Richard Childress and Kyle Busch have not been good, Dillon made it happen.

Moreover, Dillon explained in an interview that he always had a soft spot for Kyle Busch. He revealed that during a Truck Series race in Nashville in around 2011, Busch pulled Dillon aside. During their conversation, Busch told him that he was starting his Xfinity team and offered him a job to drive for his team.
