Transitioning into something new isn’t easy. Especially when it comes to a driver switching to a Chevrolet after driving a Toyota for 15 years. However, Kyle Busch made it seem effortless and proved that champions like him do not need a learning curve. Even before Rowdy’s record-setting win at the Auto Club Speedway, NASCAR fans and Richard Childress Racing had high hopes for him this year. Richard Childress’ statements are an example of the same.
During his conversation on the Fast Car 2 NASCAR podcast with show hosts Mike Wallace and Jeff Kent, Childress was asked if he feels that Busch and RCR will be successful right out of the gate, without a learning curve. Childress replied, “I do. And with Randall Burnett and Andrew and all the guys on that team. We kept the complete team, maybe, all but one or two.”
He added that RCR has to make sure that the pit crew executes well during the races. Majorly because he feels that a good pit crew execution can help his team register multiple Cup Series races this season.

“And what it’s done is made Austin [Dillon] better and I think Austin will even make Kyle better. If Kyle could be better, I think them two working together…Cause here, Kyle don’t have three other guys that is out there in the field.”
“It’s him and Austin.”
“And they have a good relationship. They had a relationship before he ever came up here, with their wives and talking. So, I think that it’s gonna really be good, you know.”
