The NASCAR community has all eyes on Austin Dillon and Joey Logano. The Richmond race turned out to be quite controversial during the last turn, where Dillon decided to take Logano out of the lead by means of wreckage. Although fans were upset with how the Richard Childress Racing driver took the win, Logano’s reaction was unjustified.
It’s understandable to be mad after getting wrecked from the lead. But after what transpired, Logano decided to take matters into his own hands. While heading down pit row, Logano drove past Austin Dillon’s family and decided to rev his engine loudly. Dillon or NASCAR fans did not take this nicely, as Logano crossed the boundaries while posing a threat to Dillon’s family and everyone on the pit road. Well, NASCAR insiders gave an earful.
What do critics think about Joey Logano’s reaction to the Richmond wreck?

While most of the community discussed Austin Dillon’s actions in wrecking two cars to win the race, a few also discussed Joey Logano’s reaction to the incident. In the latest video from Rubbin Is Racing, the team podcast team sits down to discuss the events of the Cookout 400. That’s where they talk about Logano’s reaction, and let’s just say they disagreed with the Team Penske driver.
Daniel DiOrio stated, “I saw a clip that was so egregious, post-race, that I cannot sit here and defend Austin Dillon or, excuse me, Joey Logano. I understand you’re upset, dude, and I just complimented you. Like, get your smoke off on the microphone; don’t drive like an asshole after the race is over down Pit Road when the NASCAR officials are saying, ‘Hey, go to this side, not this side of me. There’s fans over there, and there are families over there.'”
DiOrio took time to talk about the fans, who blamed Dillon’s family for being on the pit row after the race told them. “Dude, log off, touch grass; you’re an absolute loser. I’m of that opinion. If you can’t celebrate with your children post-race, like, what are we doing here?” He spoke about how the family of each driver is called up on stage during the driver intro while shutting down fans who believe Dillon’s family should not get to celebrate the win on pit row.
What Joey Logano did was unacceptable according to the whole podcast, and DiOrio stated, “Joey Logano, clown move. Uh, he revved that sh*t, which he almost took out. Yeah, family members, NASCAR officials, pit crew guys, I saw—I don’t know—a whole lot of loser energy.” After everything that DiOrio said, Michael McCarthy stepped in to conclude, “He, like, kind of just, like, bucked at the family with the car; like, he kind of pulled it up on them and revved it. If he had a gun, it would have been a drive-by shooting.”

There’s no doubt that what Logano did on pit row was dangerous. He not only threatened the lives of Dillon’s family but also many fans and pit crew members that were present around him. Although it was unfair that he got wrecked, the NASCAR community expected him to deal with the situation better. Although NASCAR’s original decision from the incident was not to penalize the two drivers, things have taken a turn after the uproar from the community.

NASCAR finally decided to penalize Austin Dillon after granting him the win at the Cookout 400. The Richmond race will show that Dillon won the race; however, NASCAR has decided to deny him the playoff spot as he violated the rules to bag his win. As for Dillon’s crew chief, he will be suspended from the sport for the upcoming three races before heading into the playoffs. Dillon’s crew chief was punished for asking the No. 3 Chevy driver to wreck Logano before the incident took place.
As for Joey Logano, the driver has been fined $50,000 for endangering fans and violating the Member Code of Conduct. Right after the incident on pit row, Logano went on to take his frustrations out on Dillon, calling him a “piece of cr*p.” Although Logano was annoyed for obvious reasons and decided to lash out on the mic, many fans found his comments in bad taste, turning many against the Team Penske driver.
