The excitement never dies out in NASCAR. With all its paraphernalia, waiting for the races every weekend is always an exhilarating affair. But the fans of NASCAR are far more excited for this season, as it marks the return of one of the most iconic racetracks in the history of Stock Car Racing.

The fans are all buckled up for the race this weekend, as the race head toward North Wilkesboro Speedway, after a thrilling one in Darlington.  

But it is not just the race at the historic track that is in store for the audience.

Rather, a few more surprises are in for the fans that are slowly being unwrapped by the organizing committee. And it will surely send the fans on cloud nine.

Richard Petty and Bob Pockrass update the fans with the latest announcements

The race at Darlington Speedway has always occupied a coveted space, in the history of racing. The throwback race weekend paid tribute to the veterans of NASCAR, through car liveries. These cars are designed as per the cars of famous drivers who outperformed others back in the day. But, the real throwback that awaits the fans is the race at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Sunday.

Even the Chief Operating Officer of NASCAR, Steve O’Donnell, as per cbssports.com, expressed in a statement, “As part of our 75th anniversary season, we’re are excited to return to the roots of the sport for the NASCAR All-Star Race. This will be a can’t-miss event as we honor our past and look forward to the future.” 

The All-Star Race on Sunday will be returning to the legendary racetrack for the first time after 1996, where Jeff Gordon got the victory. The excitement among the people was evident after pictures and videos of the racetrack circulated on the internet. The speedway flaunts a new modern look after the renovations. 

 

But that is not the end of all the excitement for the fans of NASCAR. As the days of the race shorten, the surprises are slowly being disclosed to the world. It’ll be a star-studded race that will surely be remembered by many for years to come. This is evident from the tweets of Bob Pockrass, the NASCAR reporter from Fox, and also from the tweet of the legendary driver Richard Petty.   

The tweet posted by Bob Pockrass on his profile read, Richard Petty & Darrell Waltrip to give command to start engines for all-star race. Ray Evernham to wave green flag. Jeff Gordon to drive pace car prior to race. Kameron Marlowe to sing anthem. Hannah Dasher to sing God Bless America for the Open. Soldiers will give Open command.”

The veteran driver, Richard Petty also posted pictures of him as the Grand Marshal for the hauler’s parade. He wrote on Twitter, “The King served as Grand Marshal for the @nascar hauler parade @nwbspeedway! Thank you to all the fans that came out!

Their weekend was clearly visible through the comments that they left under Bob Pockrass’ post.

Many enquired whether Dale Earnhardt Jr would be a part of the pageantries of the race, as he was one of the people who facilitated the race back on this track. “Why is @DaleJr not involved? I know his humble self just wants to be having some beers and taking it all in, but he needs to be acknowledged in some way. If he stayed silent this race never happens.

As the race approaches, the audience will surely be on the lookout to see who claims the victory at the track after the Hall of Famer, Jeff Gordon. Will it be one of the Cup Series champions? Or will it be a new face on the podium? Till then, fans are left with their own speculations.
