Homestead-Miami Speedway was nothing less than an adventure for Denny Hamlin. And what caught Dale Earnhardt Jr’s attention the most was Hamlin’s ‘save of the year’ during the race.

In a recent clip posted by NASCAR, Denny Hamlin’s #11 almost hit the wall at a turn during the race. However, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver displayed some excellent driving skills and saved his car for the day. Dale Earnhardt Jr, who was watching the entire incident could not believe what he had witnessed.

Calling it a ‘huge moment,’ Earnhardt seemed extremely excited. In the clip shared by NASCAR, he can be heard saying; “Sideways!! Wow!Woah! And the right rear gets straightened out by the wall. It almost spins it around again. Huge moment.”

Furthermore, Corey LaJoie reacted to Dale’s excitement and commented on NASCAR’s post. He wrote, “That’s the save of the year.” However, Denny Hamlin decided to stay humble after this ‘huge moment’. He gave away the entire credit to the wall! He wrote; “Wall did all the work. I was fked.”

But the humble Hamlin does deserve some credit. Finishing at the seventh position, the Joe Gibbs racing driver registered another top 10 finish of his career. However, he is below the cutoff and ended up in fifth place at the points table.

After the race, Denny Hamlin opened up about his on-track experience at the Dixie Vodka 400. While talking to NBC, the 23XI Racing owner said that he had some good stops during the race. Furthermore, he thanked his pit crew for doing a great job, especially in the second half of the race.

However, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver said that despite a good restart, he just couldn’t get his car to turn. Moreover, he revealed that he was just too slow on the short runs just like he was at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway race. Viewing this as a learning curve, Hamlin said that this was definitely something that he and his team needs to work on.

Further, talking about his ‘save of the year,’ Hamlin said, “It’s really tough to keep it up there all day, especially with the shadow into Turn 1. I had my fair share of times in the wall today. Luckily, the car stayed in one piece. I nearly crashed into (Turn) 1. That was exciting and just kept going.”
