New Zealand’s pride, Shane van Gisbergen, had previously wowed fans with a spectacular triumph on the Chicago Street Course earlier in the summer. Though he couldn’t replicate that feat at Indianapolis, his tireless effort propelled him to a commendable 10th-place finish. His achievement marked the highest among the fleet of foreign-born drivers, tying the record for the most international contenders in a single NASCAR Cup Series race.

During the podcast, Dale Earnhardt Jr. stated, “Kabayashi and Kostecki, all of the international guys, never really played a massive factor in the end result of the race. I was thrilled that they were there. I was hoping that they would all have successful runs. I want them to come back. The reason why I wanted them to do well was that I wanted more people to come right. It was pretty exciting to have them. There is a great storyline, and it was compelling to think about. Man, how good could they go?”

Hailing from the Australian shores, Brodie Kostecki embraced his moment under the spotlight. Starting from the back of the grid due to a qualifying mishap, Kostecki proved his mettle by steering his #33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet to a 22nd-place finish. The adversity only added to the allure of his debut performance, leaving spectators in awe of his grit and determination.
