Hendrick Motorsports seems to have found its lost momentum back. With Kyle Larson winning the opening playoff race at Darlington Raceway, Mr. H is perhaps celebrating behind the garage. Indeed, the victory was precious; it guaranteed Larson’s spot in the upcoming round of 12, regardless of his performance at Kansas and Bristol. All he needs to do now is keep his head in the game and just survive.

However, the story is not that sweet for Tony Stewart. The only car that the Stewart-Haas Racing owner has in playoff contention is Kevin Harvick‘s #4 Ford Mustang. And unfortunately, despite putting up a strong show, the 47-year-old driver fell back to a p19 finish.

Kyle Larson admits to having taken out Kevin Harvick

However deliberate that sounds, Kyle Larson did not directly take out Harvick. With about 50 laps to go till the checkered flag, Kevin Harvick was running second and decided to pit his ride. But Reddick pulled down and rammed into Ryan Newman. This made a caution come out, moments before Harvick was about to commit to the pit road. This resulted in a penalty and forced Stewart’s driver to fall a lap down.

In conversation with Dustin Long of NBC Sports, Kyle Larson admitted that Harvick was really good in his run. He revealed that he was about to follow Harvick and teammate William Byron to the pit lane before they got the yellow.

Larson stated, “It looked like Reddick was just gonna have to pit the next lap…got caught late. Then, as I was pulling down, I saw Newman spinning so I was like, ‘I need to stay out.’ So, I stayed out, and thankfully worked out.”

“I guess William was able to back out before committing to pit road. But I’m guessing Harvick being so close, he probably didn’t have any time to react to it. I took him out, he would know more about what happened,” he added. Definitely being P4 at that delirious moment had given Kyle the time to react.

Being the superb driver that he is, Kevin Harvick made a rebound from the penalty. He was able to grab the lead back after another caution appeared due to an Alex Bowman and Daniel Suarez crash. However, it was not enough for a victory at the “Too Tough to Tame” racetrack.

Fans on social media hold Reddick responsible for the mishap. When NBC tweeted, “A bad break for Kevin Harvick. He didn’t make it to pit road when Ryan Newman spun. #NASCAR”, fans poured comments condemning NASCAR’s quick decision.

A fan said, “Not a bad break. An intentional wreck caused by Reddick.”

While another wrote, “That was on Reddick. Wish Newman would’ve wrecked him. DA Reddick.”

Someone alleged Reddick to have committed something as heinous as a deliberate caution and exclaimed, “Penalize Tyler! That’s equivalent to a break check.”

However, the 23XI driver was not the only one who was receiving the burns. A NASCAR enthusiast commented, “Yea. NASCAR screwed him with that quick caution”
