Following the NASCAR Cup race at Watkins Glen, Chase Elliott made a bit of a fool of himself. As it turned out, he was under the impression that the next race was at Bristol. However, the truth of the matter is that the next race is the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at the Daytona International Speedway.

He said, “For some reason I thought we were going to Bristol. I don’t know why, I don’t know where I got that in my head. We were doing some scheduling and I have a buddy that lives around there. I’ve been talking to him. For some reason I had it in my head, that’s where we’re going. I might swing through there Saturday morning just to check it out, see who’s in town.”
I wondered if Chase Elliott had a favorite Bristol meme. He didn’t mention a specific one but he is finding it funny that he kept saying that Bristol was this weekend. pic.twitter.com/S44CoehDbL

How did everyone react to the Chase Elliott mistake?
Naturally, many people found the hilarious side of the situation. This included the likes of Bubba Wallace and Denny Hamlin, who also joked about looking forward to Bristol. In the end, the Hendrick Motorsports driver realized that the paddock is supposed to go to Daytona.

All joking aside, this weekend’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 is a hugely important race. Not only does it herald the final race of the regular season, but it is also the last chance to book a Playoff berth. It is also worth noting that there is one spot remaining, and several contenders for it.

At the moment, Ryan Blaney is in the driving seat, as he is the highest-placed non-winning driver. However, he could face the threat of Martin Truex Jr and a few wildcard drivers for that spot. Bubba Wallace is also a favorite, as he generally performs well at superspeedways. While all this is going on though, it is no skin of Chase Elliott’s nose. This is because he has already qualified for the Playoffs.
