It is no surprise that racing is a high-risk profession. Drivers risk their lives the second they sit in the 200 mph cars and head out for a three-and-a-half-hour race. Therefore, drivers have gotten into some very horrific accidents throughout the years and, fortunately, have also walked away unscratched. A similar thing happened to Jimmie Johnson.

The seven-time Cup Series Champion was also involved in a scary accident. This Happened during the Xfinity race at Watkins Glen International in 2000. The driver posted a tweet recalling the incident.
Flashback to one of the most iconic wrecks of my career @WGI… it’s amazing that 23 years later, I still vividly remember every moment heading towards that wall, and yet I can’t remember where I left my car keys this morning 🤓. #TBT pic.twitter.com/NzS40Bpxei

The crash was scary, without a doubt. However, it makes you question what the driver would be thinking in the car. Fortunately for us, Johnson talked about exactly that in an interview on YouTube.
Fascinatingly, Jimmie felt it was over for him when he labeled it, “The very few times in a racecar I thought it was over.”
The driver then describes one of his scariest crashes, “Brakes went to the floor. I’m bouncing through the grass, and I saw the wall. I thought it was a concrete wall, and thought that was it.”
It blew even Jimmie Johnson away how he walked out of the car uninjured as he added, “To survive, to be uninjured I was just blown away in the car that I was I was okay when I climbed out of the car.”

He said, “I think the fans in the grandstands right there had a similar line of thought like ‘he’s not here he’s gone’.
