Back in 2005, Danica Patrick was involved in a serious crash during her IndyCar debut at the Homestead Miami race. She clipped her right wheel with another car and went on to slam the wall hard, losing consciousness. In April 2019, she spoke about the accident while sharing a nice scorpion meal with Bear Grylls.

When Bear asked her what would she say was her worst crash is. Danica replied, “I was down low on the bottom of the track and a car was falling down the track. And clipped by right rears as I went by. Shot me up into the wall. “

Talking about the impact, she said, “I hit at like almost 150 G’s started on a fire a little bit and spun. Went down to the bottom of the track.”

She was then taken to the medical center, where when she woke up only to see the Indycar pastor look at her and ask her a few questions.

Describing the experience, she said, “And I was like what’s going on!”

Her mother was in her presence at the time, she comforted her and asked her to relax a bit. She ends the ordeal by saying, “Dude I thought I was in heaven for a second.”

Danica Patrick has been one of the very few women to be a part of the American racing scene. And she has had some of the more successful careers both as an Indycar driver and as a NASCAR driver.

Danica has been one of the most successful women to ever grace the American open-wheel racing scene. Pair that with a victory in the Indy Japan 300 back in 2008, and she remains the only woman to ever win an IndyCar race to date.

Patrick had her best seasons in Indycar during 2008 and 2009. She raced with Andretti Green Racing during this era. In 2018, she scored a 6th place finish at Homestead Miami, where she crashed on her debut. Thereafter, she finished within the top 10 ten times that season and eventually ended up 6th on the driver’s table.

The following year, she did even better as she got 5th place in the Championship. Unfortunately, Danica’s Indycar career came to an end at the 2018 Indianapolis 500 race, where she lost control of her car, spinning around and crashing into the outside wall before sliding back across the track and hitting the inside wall.

Before the 2018 Indy 500 incident, she also raced for the Stewart-Haas Racing team in the Cup Series. Her stint in NASCAR was one riddled with mediocre success and an awful lot of DNFs. He finished her 2017 season with one top 10 result and multiple DNFs.
