It was just a couple of weeks ago that Kyle Larson revealed he would race the doubleheader in 2024. Now the buzz is already surrounding speculations of another NASCAR great doing the same.

It was just last year when Jimmie Johnson made his debut at the prestigious Indianapolis 500, and it was a huge success for him. He was among the top performers, earning top spots during qualification. Moreover, he even led a few laps during the race. With this in mind, it is no surprise that the former Hendrick Motorsports driver wants to repeat this experience.

When recently asked if he thinks that Johnson will be seen at Indy again, one of Johnson’s former IndyCar teammates, Scott Dixon answered on a positive note. He told the press, “I think so. I’m not sure about this year.” Although he was not entirely sure about Johnson’s return this year, he definitely dropped a hint that it could very well be a possibility for him to do so next year.

However, Johnson’s plate is full this year as he makes his return to NASCAR with multiple roles. Last year in November, he announced that he had become a co-owner of the newly rebranded Legacy Motor Club, formerly known as Petty GMS Racing. In addition, he will run select Cup races this season, including the Daytona 500.

Jimmie Johnson has a packed schedule this year

His involvement with Legacy Motor Club is something that he is taking very seriously. Moreover, Johnson has a massive role to play in the team starting this season.

At a recent event in New York, Johnson was asked about the possibility of a return to the Indy 500 this season itself. Responding to the theories, he didn’t dismiss the idea entirely.

However, it is to note that Johnson is committed to running the NASCAR All-Star race at North Wilkesboro this year. This would most likely rule out a return to the Indy 500 as the two events would overlap. Furthermore, he also has made plans to participate in Hendrick Motorsports’ Garage 56 entry at Le Mans in June.
