Like most other motorsports, NASCAR has been a male-dominated sport over the years. It’s not that women have not tried their hands at stock car racing but very few have been able to cement a name for themselves. However, turning the tides and changing the game for good, Hailie Deegan has now been an emerging prospect to represent diversity in what was considered a predominantly male sport.
Deegan’s journey from the ARCA Menard Series to the Xfinity Series has been both exhilarating and a learning curve for her. Taking the next big leap in her career, she has signed for AM Racing for the Xfinity 2024 Series. Owing to her persona, she has garnered a huge fan following, and she is certainly one of the most influential NASCAR personalities out there. However, with such tremendous support and fan following, the internet world could be mean and off-putting at times and it is no different for Hailie.

Over the years, though she has gained millions of followers who admire her skills, not everyone is a fan of her and she does get not-so-friendly comments on the internet from time to time. But Hailie Deegan’s nonchalant approach is what allows her to keep her peace despite the hate online.
Parker Klingerman invited Deegan to his show, Money Lap, and got into the thick of things as he usually does. Taking note of the online negativity Deegan has faced over the years just for being a female driver, Klingerman asked how she deals with the negativity. She replied, “Honestly, the whole negativity on social media stuff like that, I completely tune it out.
“I just completely tune it out cuz of you’re not doing what I’m doing or if you’ve accomplished more I will take your input but if not I really don’t care about it if you support me and support my career thank you, I appreciate it, I love people who support me and my fans but when it comes to the negative side of things I completely act like they don’t exist.”
However, Deegan would take a serious critique from someone like Tony Stewart or Kevin Harvick and work towards bettering herself. After all, they are the legends of the sport who have made a significant impact and are continuing to do so.

It’s one thing to be bashed by the fans online and another when someone with experience makes a comment about your shortcomings or areas of improvement. Hailie Deegan, who has been upbeat in her approach and tackles online negatively well, did underscore that it would be a different scenario if someone like Tony Stewart or Kevin Harvick had something negative to say about her.
“I look at it as, okay if it’s someone like a Tony Stewart or a Kevin Harvick, that’s saying something negative about me or criticizing me, I’m gonna probably take it very differently than I would an average person or an average fan, and so I’m going to probably take that one to heart. I’m probably change whatever it is and try to fix it because they are people who are established.”

While Hailie has been doing really well in tackling online hate, she does need to justify the opportunity given her by AM Racing. Having made the switch to the Xfinity Series for the 2024 season, the onus will be on her to come good and perhaps prove a point to the online haters.
