Dreams, perseverance, and the thrill of competition fuel the world of NASCAR. Trackhouse Racing’s owner, Justin Marks, introduced Project 91 with the dream of attracting international talent to NASCAR. The Team ran its last race in Chicago with Shane van Gisbergen behind the wheel of the #91 car. He became the first driver in over 60 years to win his debut race in the NASCAR Cup Series. Ever since then, he hasn’t shied away from voicing his love for driving in NASCAR.

Shane van Gisbergen is returning to NASCAR yet again for the #91 team. However, he also ran the Truck Series race for Niece Motorsports at the Indianapolis Oval this weekend. He finished 19th in the race, a lap behind the leaders. When he spoke in an interview after the race, Shane van Gisbergen expressed his excitement and labeled his experience as “living the dream”. Hailing from the land down under, Shane van Gisbergen has swapped the twists and turns of the V8 Supercars for the high-speed ovals of NASCAR. As the laps in the truck race unfolded, he found himself facing a few challenges that tested his skills and adaptability. He dropped from the lead lap with 10 to go. He later candidly admitted that it was probably due to making the wrong calls with the adjustments on his truck. Despite the setback, van Gisbergen’s passion for NASCAR remains vibrant.

In a post-race interview, referring to SVG’s past comment on having fun in NASCAR, a Fox Sports reporter asked him, “Where do you rate this one on the fun meter?”

“That was awesome!” said SVG. ” But upside a little gutted.10 to go, finally dropped off the lead lap. But, had a ball, had some awesome racing with people a lot of fun and um yeah got to thank Niece Motorsports Worldwide Express and the Trackhouse guys for having me. I’m living the dream it was really cool, everyone was respectful. It was awesome.”

“Your first time on an oval what grade do you give yourself?” the reporter followed up.

“I don’t know, I don’t do that,” he replied. “But… um… I got a lot to learn. Pace was okay in some spots and I probably gave the wrong call on the adjustments and we really dropped on the last stint, but so much fun.”
