With four extremely talented drivers in the competition, Sunday’s race is definitely going to be a spectacle for all NASCAR fans. However, what many want to know is if Chase Elliott is confident enough while entering the 2022 championship.
Although Elliott has been the best driver of the 2022 regular season, he seemed quite disappointed with his playoff performance. Much of this can be attributed to the variations in his car speed over the races. Although being the first driver to have qualified for the Round of 4, Elliott told Fox Sports; “I need to do a better job.”
But now, when Elliott and his team are edging towards the final showdown, he has learned to come to terms with inconsistency. In his conversation with Fox Sports, the Hendrick Motorsports driver said,“It’s certainly not always going to be rainbows and butterflies. It’s just not. As much as I would love for it to be, it’s not. And I recognize that, and as a team, we understand that, too.”

Furthermore, he continued that inconsistency is a part of the deal of racing. He said, “The trend of our year, honestly, is just a lot of inconsistency — having really good weeks, and some really, really poor weeks as well. They’ve even come in a very similar stretch of time.”
However, the past is the past. And the truth of the moment is that Elliott is among the final 4 of the championship. The only thing left to conquer is Phoenix!

Although the playoffs have been a roller coaster ride for Elliott, his confidence has not been shaken. While talking about the chances of clinching his second trophy, Elliott said that he thinks he and his team has an opportunity as good as anybody.
He further continued; “Our playoffs has (been) … probably more down than it has been up for how we ran leading into it. But when I sit back and I look at this weekend and the way this format is and the way the final four works [with one race], if you’re in, you have a shot.”
