The bond between NASCAR fans and their driving heroes is something special. Fans dive headfirst into the action, eagerly waiting in the pits for a snapshot moment, and connecting with the drivers on social media. But lately, Joey Logano’s remarks on the driver-audience proximity seems to be stirring the pot, ruffling feathers here and there, including those of insider Brett Griffin and fellow racers like Landon Huffman.
Logano put it out there that despite raking in the big bucks, NASCAR drivers stay grounded with their fans. On the flip side, Cars Tour hotshot Landon Huffman had a different take. He was quick to point out that his wallet hasn’t seen a single penny from racing this year, yet he remains as down-to-earth as ever, no ifs or buts about it.

In a recent interview, Joey Logano remarked that despite drivers earning more and living the high life, they’re racers at heart. He even went so far as to label fans as spoiled, pointing out the drivers’ humility despite their hefty paychecks. This didn’t sit well with Brett Griffin, who questioned the income disparity between Huffman and Logano.

However, Huffman’s admission on the video of Brett Griffin he shared, was a real eye-opener: “Can confirm not enough 🤣🤣 I made exactly $0 driving a racecar in 2023.” And when a fan hinted that Huffman might be throwing a “pity party”, the driver set the record straight. Huffman stressed that there were no hard feelings on his end. He recognized the challenges and hard work involved, especially given his background, and considered himself fortunate to race at all.
“There is no pity party from me.I know what I sign up for. I’m blessed to have the opportunity to race like I do coming from the background I do in this day and time. Many don’t realize how much work it takes to do it this way. I made $0 racing this year. True statement.”

It’s quite the revelation, especially considering the Cars Tour’s heavyweight ownership includes names like Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jeff Burton, Kevin Harvick, and Justin Marks. In the comments, Huffman even shed some light on how he makes ends meet if not from racing.

When a twitter user inquired about Huffman’s financials and asked if he has to rely on sponsorships solely, the driver opened up and shared, “Sponsorship pays for my racing, I make a living through my YouTube channel, merchandise, & video licensing. Grind, & it doesn’t pay great, but it’s growing & as long as I can do those things, continue to grow, and support my family while drivin & workin on racecars.”
Currently, Huffman is gearing up to take the wheel of a Jimmy Mooring Racing car for the full 2024 CARS Tour late model stock season. He’s a relative newcomer to the CARS Tour, but he’s already made waves, clinching victory in the lucrative Old North State Nationals in August and bagging six more wins outside the CARS Tour in 2023.

It’s a new chapter for Huffman as he switches gears from Nelson Motorsports and their #22 car to team up with Jared Fryar at Jimmy Mooring Racing. Fryar, behind the wheel of the #14 CARS Tour entry, will race part-time, including the VA Triple Crown. Meanwhile, Huffman is all in, chasing the CARS Tour championship and possibly adding a few more races to his schedule.
