Daniel Suarez‘s bleak streak continues after a strong run that went horribly wrong for the Trackhouse Racing driver at Darlington. While the HMS camp got themselves another trophy with Kyle Larson putting on a clinical performance, his teammate wasn’t fortunate enough as a critical error in the later stage sealed the deal for him and the #99 Mexican driver.

Despite not making the playoff 16, the #99 had speed as he put on a spectacular race up until the #48 HMS Chevy did him dirty following a critical error, causing both drivers to wreck out of the race.

Disheartened and disappointed with his fellow Chevy driver, Suarez issued a cold warning to the HMS driver, asking him to stay out of his sight for his own good.

Daniel Suarez issues a stern warning after Darlington tussle

2023 hasn’t been the perfect season for the 31-year-old Mexican. While he was able to make the playoffs last year, he failed to do so this year despite this being his 7th season in the organization’s top-tier division. Looking to make the most out of the remaining 10 races, Daniel Suarez was running in the top 10 up until a late tangle in the 319th lap of the race got him back to square one.

Surprisingly, the calm and cool HMS driver, Alex Bowman was arguably the one at fault here. Running 8th, Bowman put an aggressive block to halt the #99 Chevy’s advance. Though Suarez batted a blind eye to the initial block, Bowman’s second move infuriated the driver as he aggressively pushed on the outside, slamming the #48 into the wall in the process.

This ending both drivers’ decent runs with yet another DNF. The contact also put the #99 Chevy into the path of the #21 Ford of Harrison Burton, essentially taking him put as well. With his day ruined in a flash, Suarez did not hesitate to let his emotions go wild.

Speaking to the media in the pit lane, he said, “You can block once and its okay. We give and take, I could’ve easily put him into the inside wall and I didn’t do that because I’m not like that but when I went to his outside he blocked me again, I wasn’t going to leave the second time. I gave him a break once. I won’t give him a break twice. It’s not right, you know.”

“He is smarted than that. He has 5 mins of being a dummy, and he uses that against the #99, I guess.

When the reporter asked him if he had a word with Bowman or if he would, Suarez shared his frustration vividly, saying, “No, I haven’t seen him. I hope not. Right now I’m a little too heated, I hope I dont see him in the next 15-20 minutes.”

Sunday’s race wasn’t what both drivers thought it would be. While they both knew that they were in for a tough challenge at Darlington, in no way they were expecting such a terrible turn of events. Bowman, who was blocked and refused to pass all day (as per the driver) had enough and decided to put out a stiff block.

Whereas for Suarez, who was looking to make the most of the remaining races, wasn’t going without a fight. NBC’s coverage perfectly covered the brief stint, with Bowman blocking the #99 Chevy twice and Suarez returning the favor on the second occasion.

Shortly after the race, the #48 driver issued a statement, admitting his mistake, but it looks like Suarez isn’t having any of it. In his tweet, Suarez said, I’d use other words but that wouldn’t be appropriate so let’s stick to “dumb move”. I’m not surprised by now. My team deserved better today, we struggled in the short run but were strong in the long run, our @Freeway_Ins Chevy was a top10 car. We’ll bounce back in Kansas.”
