It is safe to say Matt DiBenedetto is not too torn up about losing his Cup Series ride this year. The 30-year-old is perfectly content with competing in the Truck Series. In fact, he has not been keeping track of the Cup Series season and hunting for potential seats. It was surprising since there is a fair amount of prime real estate available. Especially with Aric Almirola retiring and Kyle Busch’s future on the rocks owing to M&Ms departure.

He said, “You guys would know way better than me. To be totally honest, I haven’t paid the slightest bit of attention. I’ve just been focused on our deal and how to put our truck in Victory Lane. I’m especially looking forward to the Sonoma race. To answer your question, not really. I’m just happy where I am, I’m not happy when I’m not winning. Happy to be part of this team and building it, so we’re committed to take things to the next level.”

Will we see Matt DiBenedetto back in the Cup Series?
In all honesty, it is difficult to say if he will be back. First and foremost, he is 30 years old, so some teams may take that into account. On the other end of the scale though, as long as he keeps turning in decent performances, someone is bound to notice. The best part is that he has been doing just that, with consistent Top 10 finishes in the Truck Series.
So far, his best finish was 6th place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and the World Wide Technology Raceway. Aside from that, he has snatched Top 10 finishes at the Daytona International Speedway, Kansas Speedway, and the Texas Motor Speedway. Now, Matt DiBenedetto will be looking forward to the coming race weekend at Sonoma.
