While many would’ve thought the Kyle Busch-Joe Gibbs Racing controversy from last season had come to an end with both parties going their separate ways, it seems that hasn’t been the case. Because not only did Busch’s ex-teammate Denny Hamlin make some new revelations about Busch’s ‘demands’ in 2022, but what he revealed didn’t sit well with the fans.

In a recent episode of the Actions Detrimental podcast, Hamlin addressed Rowdy fans going all, “See we told ya!” to Joe Gibbs Racing after Busch’s win at Fontana.

“People have to understand that Joe Gibbs wanted to sign Kyle Busch,” Hamlin claimed. “They really tried, and they gave him a very, very good offer. But he did not want to take it and ended up taking probably a lot less because he had ran out of options at RCR.”

Denny Hamlin responds to NASCAR fan after ‘cease to exist’ comment on JGR

Speaking about what went down between his team and his ex-teammate last year, Hamlin also claimed that

Joe Gibbs Racing would’ve ceased to exist if they had agreed to pay what Busch was asking for to stay with the team.

Now, this was something that one fan, in particular, didn’t agree with. And interestingly enough, his disagreement was also something Hamlin didn’t agree with.

“My opinion, I like Denny Hamlin, but I am not gonna take his word fully in a count of what happened for the simple fact he drives for the coach. He’s not going to bash the coach. I just feel like there was more to the story from both sides, but that’s my opinion,” the fan tweeted.

To this, Hamlin replied,

“I will not state something that I know is untrue. I have enough facts to form a opinion and also speak on the topic. My job is to be unbiased and fair to all parties I speak about.”

It’s worth noting that Busch spent the biggest chunk of his career on Coach Gibbs’ team, and consequently, the majority of the success he’s had in his career so far, also came to Gibbs.
