27-year-old Tyler Reddick has been racing in the NASCAR Cup Series for some years now. Back in 2019, he and his partner had a son, who they named Beau. Since then, the family has been living happily together, but Reddick is under a bit of pressure. In a recent episode of the Dale Jr. Download podcast, the 23XI Racing driver opened up on how becoming a parent has changed him.

Talking with Dale Jr and Mike Davis, Reddick said, “When you become a father, everything changes, like completely. It’s weird, you prepare for it, you hear about it, you try and get ready for it, and it happens. Then just all these things change within yourself and around you that it’s hard to describe.

“The biggest thing for me that I found through it all is, I found myself new sources of motivation to get better. I found myself, oddly enough, finding ways to work even harder than I was before. ‘Cause I wasn’t just working for it for myself. I want my family to have a good life, I needed to run good to support them.”

Switching teams and manufacturers can be a jarring experience. After racing a Chevrolet for many years, Reddick will need some kind of adjustment period where he gets to grips with the Toyota. However, he cannot afford to take too long, as both Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan have put a lot of faith in him. The pressure is on Reddick and teammate Bubba Wallace as they have not yet shown promising results this season.
