Hendrick Motorsports has had a decent season despite not being able to grab the title. Their performances throughout the season were commendable, and they must be satisfied that Chase Elliott went on to the championship 4 round. Elliott’s teammate Kyle Larson was another driving force behind the team’s rise up the playoff ladder this season. Though he was eliminated mid-way through, his contributions were significant for the team.
This was the first NASCAR Cup Series season to run the all-new Next-Gen cars. While many drivers across the field had problems with the new cars early on, the boys at Hendrick Motorsports seemed to have fallen for them from day 1.
Talking to HendrickMotorsports.com, the HM president and general manager Jeff Andrews said, “2022 for us was a great season. Anytime you accomplish being a part of that Championship 4 in Phoenix and have given yourself an opportunity through the season to get there, that is no small feat. That takes a ton of work and a ton of dedication by everyone here to even get there.

“I don’t think we should hang our heads at all about what we accomplished in 2022 with the change that went on with the vehicle and the unprecedented number of things we had to adapt to and overcome during the year. To go out and win 11 races and have a car in the Championship 4 for both the owner’s and the driver’s championship, I think it’s a great year for Hendrick Motorsports.”

Getting one driver into the playoffs can be an arduous task. Just ask any of the smaller teams about it. Meanwhile, for Hendrick Motorsport entering all of their four cars into the playoffs was really easy. All four cars progressed all the way up to the round of 12. Until then it was all smooth sailing for the team.
It was only after that the dominos effect began. Regardless, it still is a testimony to how strong the team was throughout their 2022 campaign. At the end of the day, Elliott’s efforts were able to get the team into the top four for the driver’s championship.

Meanwhile, his teammate, Kyle Larson’s hard-fought effort landed Hendrick Motorsport in the championship four for the owner’s playoff. Most, if not all, teams would be proud to come that close to the championship—that too, on a consistent basis. It was not just the efforts of Elliott or Larson, but the crew and other staff members as well. They finished their season on a high and would be hoping to carry it forward to the next season.
